Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

First two, I can see, but the secondary won't be bad come game time.

Randolph injured, Sutton, Moseley playing well, plus at least a couple new guys playing well enough to get playing time.

Won't be nearly as bad as last year.

It also doesn't help (or does, long term) that they're going against one of the most talented WR groups they'll face all year. That will only make them better.

Dang... I got LotteryPicked

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but my friend is also attending the coaching clinic (and crashing on my futon) this weekend. What he told me directly opposed everything in that post. I know I don't have much credit around here, but I will let you guys know what I he told me anyway and you can take it or leave it.

The OL, DL, and DBs are bad, like really bad. The kicking situation isn't very good either. He got to go into Elder's office last night and said he seemed optimistic about the TE's, but special teams will be a problem. I am usually a glass half-full kind of guy, but from the sound of it, the coaches aren't banking on setting the world on fire this year.

One bit of good news is that the consensus is Hurd is as advertised and will likely start from the first game on.

If anyone has any questions, I can run them by him and see what he says. Also, we are both going to the scrimmage tomorrow (me as a student, him as a coach). So that will be fun.

Not sure it was the opposite of what I posted, more like the same. DB's and DL situation is bad. I guess the other guy did say better things about OL.

It has been a fantastic trip and I am not really sad either. Had a great time and I recommend Jamaica, and particularly Sandals Ocho Rios, to anyone. Top notch.

I hear ya man! Best vacation I've ever had. Was at Sandals Montego Bay for my honeymoon 2 1/2 years ago. I think I'm still to this day hungover from that trip. Lol

The good news about the bolded part is most of those guys can be replaced this summer. Randolph will be healthy, plus we get TK, McDowell, Gaulden and Berry. That will make the DBs way better. Also, the DBs might looks worse than they actually are because of the guys they are going up against.

And Medley also arrives on campus, so he could increase the kicking game.

Agree. We all have seen what happens with Randolph out. Him alone will be huge come fall. I can't wait to see what Gaulden, Kelly and McDowell do. They will put McNeil on the bench real quick IMO. I am not ready to count out Berry at WR. I think he will succeed there in Slot like Abernathy did at Cincy. Hendrix, Henderson, weathered, Barnett will bring much needed pass rush ability that will help on outside and inside of line. I could see Maggitt being full time DE if Bryant and Bates are who I think they are in terms of immediate impact players

Hopefully Game One starter.

The DB's are somewhat inexperienced and undersized versus some really good, physical talent at receiver. Will get better in fall camp and during the early games as the talent arrives on campus.

Both O and D lines could be bad. More than likely they are not just working together as units yet. That takes time and work. Too early to draw any conclusions on that one. The talent on the O-line is better than the talent on the D-line this spring IMO. Come August that will even out with the talent coming in as well as Saulsberry being back.

O-line will be fine and a RB like Hurd will give them even more confidence. Hurd, Lane, and Scott(I expect for him to come in and compete for carries as the No.3 guy) will help them out a lot running aggressive and downhill. They all have good vision too so that helps a lot when there's nothing there. With an aggressive running game that will open up even more with the weapons in the passing game. The WRs are as talented athletically as they were under Dooley. The TEs are young but Helm may be the young QBs best friend early on. And if he starts killing teams early on look out. We'll be putting up a lot of points with just smart QB play.

The defense worries the hell out of me. We'll be fast but undersized. We'll make some plays but we'll catch hell if we have to defend a power running team all game.

He/she is an imposter, if so.

If there is a person of mixed gender who is impersonating you on this board then I believe now is an appropriate time to say...

... the plot thickens.

Tune in next time for more intrigue on As The Volnation Turns.

Cue some slow, dramatic piano musoc.

Personally, I think it seems like Worley is slowly taking job.

I'm making a massive assumption, but that's JMO.

I'm perfectly fine with your assumption LP. If we remember, JW wasn't a bad QB in the uga and sc games last year.

Eh, I've always thought they'd be better than we thought.

DL has been the scary one, for me.

I've said all along that this OL will be a better unit....would be a great story if a walk-on succeeds at LT. The D-line will be fine...especially when the Joe Hendersons and Hendrixs and Barnetts of the world start playing off the present crew.

He wasn't great either. North just won the SC game. Those passes were thrown up there and he just made sick catches on them. UGA game he wasn't spectacular either. Howard was the one doing the work in that one. North also made a sick catch in that one on a bad throw.
