So what happens when we stink next year.

Also, to the OP's point, how in the world do you know what this team will do next year? There are too many unknowns at this point to rush to judgement either way.

But allowing Cuonzo to leave the way many of you still want him to would be to start a dumpster fire that would burn for years.

No extension? Huge moron move.

No raise to put him in the upper half of the league? Our athletic department is a joke.

Expecting a dismal season next year just based upon perceptions? Cuckoo nest time.

Absolutely correct. People dream up their own scenerios, but those are the realities.

CCM earned a raise and an extension. Anyone who says otherwise is seriously out of touch with reality.

We've shed a couple of faulty parts that cost us an elite 8 by 2 points.
Don't need a perfect storm, just consistent progress.

Which two parts are that?

And people are running off 10 point check lists of things that have to go right to get us back to the tourney next year.

Bottom line...CCM got us to the Dance this year, which was everybody's expectation for this team.

He lost points for UT being on the bubble. He gained points for having a nice run to the Swt16. A wash.

Bottom line...he met expectations for THIS season. Odd that people keep parsing what he did in seasons one and two.

Because that is the nature of having a job. I agree that this year was roughly on par with expectations resulting from a preseason top 25 ranking, but if we miss the tourney next year, as I suspect we will, he will be 1/4 and squarely back on the hot seat.

Instead of getting rid of Cuonzo and collecting 1.3 million it looks like we are probably gonna give him an extension. What happens next year when we go to the NIT or worse. We will probably get rid of him anyway but instead will pay a big buyout. This may be one of the dumbest moves in Tennessee history. :banghead2:

Next year will show what kind of coach he is, give him a shot and see what he can do, if he coached like he did the last few games like getting fired up and showing fire, the main thing is RECRUITING.

Threads like these will be fun to bring up in a year, especially if we do well. That way our negative fans can find new reasons to hate. It will be fun for all. You'll see

We won't suck next year.

(1) Martin returns.

(2) Stokes may sneak in to the late 2nd round of the draft, so he will return for his senior year and improve his draft status.

(3) Richardson will improve ALOT over the summer and will replace McRae, as a leader

(4) The foward from TSU will transfer to U.T. and he will fill in where Maymon was.

(5) Team has gotten a taste of the NCAA & of the Sweet 16 and will be hungry for more, so they will play more disciplined and have better results.

(6) thompson will shine because he will be the starter and not coming off of the bench.

(7) Hubbs will be healthy.....

(8) Armani Moore will take a big leap forward (Josh Richardsonesque) this offseason and will be a stud next year.

I hope like holy heck he makes the sweet 16. I'd love to see him coaching here in 10 years.

I know you don't think he's the long term answer, you've said it multiple times, neither do I, but I sure hope we're wrong and he is the answer.

The same people saying we will suck next year said we wouldn't get a bid. Then when we got a bid they said we won't beat anyone. I think I'll wait and see.

That's like saying, well UT has only made x amount of Sweet 16s so they're not going to, when talking about this pas season.

Make the tourney and you have no idea what's gonna happen.

The ONE good team they played in the tourney, they lost to. I'm not one to boast about my team beating Umass and Mercer.
