BREAKING NEWS!!!Cuonzo Martin removes name from Marquette search

well most sport's analysts have projected next years squad as an NIT team, much like they projected this years team as a sweet 16 type of team. If stokes leaves...may be real nasty.

Prove it with links showing where "most sports analysis" projected these things. It's just not true. We weren't even top 25 preseason. I've seen nothing predicting next year's team because we didn't even know who would be coaching it or on the team.

How good would next year be if CM left and Stokes left and we lost our recruits? We might make the tournament in another couple of years...maybe.

Chill out man. This team bought in to CM at the end of the year. He didn't suddenly figure out how to coach. We have some good players next year, and with the parody in the NCAA today that's really all you need to make a good run.

So it took 4 starters almost 3 years to buy in to Zo. Excellent

Nice, really didn't think money was gonna be a "main factor", if that makes sense. I assume Marquette and Tennessee would be comparable money, but that there was tension between Tennessee and Martin.

So it sounds like Hart really wanted to keep him?

But.....we have only ourselves to blame?....and the program will be set back ten years?...that petition?...and people laughing at us?...and racism?....RACISM!!!!! :scare:

A sweet 16 run when we barely made the tourney doesnt excite you?

Guess you cant please everyone

We got lucky getting to play Iowa, UMass and Mercer. Once we played a real team(not a great one) we were blown out until Michigan let up and allowed us back in it. We beat one good team all year and suddenly Cuonzo is pure gold. We lose 4 of our top 5 players. Just look at bench production down the stretch. That is what we'll see next year. Cuonzo is very average at best.

I'll admit there are some questionable fans on these boards just look at Lady Vols board where there are a few calling for Holly Warlick to be fired. I mean in two years as HC she has an SEC regular & SEC Tournament title an Elite 8 and Sweet16 appearance!

Now that's extreme calling for a coach with that record to be fired but Cuonzo Martin on the other hand was 39-28 in his first two years with a couple of NIT appearances and not counting the last 10 games this season (including SEC & NCAA Tournament) he was 16-11.

Tennessee went 8-2 over its last ten games to get to play in the Sweet 16!

Now the big question is which is the real Cuonzo Martin the one that was 55-39 in three years minus 10 games or Cuonzo Martin that showed a little fire and passion in the NCAA Tournament and went 8-2 over the last 10 games and came with in 2 points of the Elite 8??

Warlick is a worse coach than Martin. There is a serious lack of parity in the women's game and the Lady Vols are loaded with talented players who play a disorganized, undisciplined brand of ball. I've watched them under Warlick and I still have no idea what they are doing offensively and defensively. Summitt was no great tactician, but, damn, she could motivate and create a collective identity. Warlick is a career second fiddle and just isn't capable of the same. She has a Final Four talented team, but has yet to make it that far.

Yes, Michigan just let us back into the game out of pity. What game were you watching?? We scrapped, clawed, and flat out EARNED that comeback. And Michigan isn't a good team? They made the elite 8 and almost the final four AND won the big 10 this year. They are legit.

Also, we beat Iowa, UMass, and Mercer by double digits. We took care of business when we were supposed to in a way we were supposed to. What isn't there to like about that?

I didn't know losing by 2 points is getting blown out. I guess the fact we never quit when UM kept hitting dagger threes doesn't mean a damn thing. J Rich has proven he can lead this team next year.Stokes will come back. DT showed some great flashes tho year. Hubbs is a highly talented recruit.

Next year is not all doom and gloom. I

I heard Hart didn't like being strung along and is going to go after Marshall. Dare I say it..............

He won't be triple teamed when Rhett transfers in.

If and if Rhett is legit. 10/8 for a 5-25 Tennessee State team is a different monster than getting 10/8 nightly at this level.

It pretty much rides on Jarnell at this point. He said playing with Jarnell is about the only way he's coming.

stop it. facts aren't welcome here.

I'll give you that we made the preseason 25 in that particular poll, but it still doesn't even scratch the scope of your statement "most sports analysis indicated we would be a Sweet 16 team." Nor do I see NIT predictions for next year's team at this point. (Not saying people couldn't say that, just haven't seen any proof.)

If you make the sweet sixteen isn't that really saying you're one of the best 16 teams in the country?

Not really, no. I doubt many people believe that Stanford and Dayton were one of the 16 best teams in the country. Or that Dayton was really top 8.

I mean of course you say no you are trying to prove a point, but I think if you make the sweet sixteen you basically finish in the top 16 of that season. Witch is better than all the preseason rankings your posting #justsayin
