BREAKING NEWS!!!Cuonzo Martin removes name from Marquette search

Funny quote from Patrick Brown's story about this. Apparently Zo isn't a fan of hugs from his boss:

Another source said last week Martin was unhappy with athletic director Dave Hart hugging him on the floor following the win against Mercer that clinched only the program's seventh trip to the NCAA tournament's round of 16.

Good.

Is Haslem a pretty sharp businessman? Some of the geniuses on this board need to not only tell him he is wrong, but offer advice on running Pilot.

They probably think they could do it better. :eek:lol:

I've never run an oil company, but pretty sure I could do it to the point it wouldn't be raided by federal agents...

After the post-season run I'm behind Cuonzo. However, I need to see more consistent play earlier in the season. No way should we be on the bubble every year. That said, I'll watch every game no matter who is coaching.

Lol okay. That is weird if it is true and weird if someone made that up

nice thought in concept. Let's revisit it with our NIT appearance next year and see if the support is still there.

Why do jackwads like yourself keep proclaiming that we'll definitely be an NIT team?

You don't have a freakin' clue what will happen next year, and you really sound like you hope we do so you can say "DERP I tolds you so!"

well most sport's analysts have projected next years squad as an NIT team, much like they projected this years team as a sweet 16 type of team. If stokes leaves...may be real nasty.

You guys do know that what Rucker releases is the same thing that 247 does right?

He is the Tennessee beat writer for 247!

I am so pumped. I can't wait till Zo leads us into the dance next season and wrecks havoc on folks. Woo freakin hoo. I think ill drink in celebration. GBO!

I'll be honest, it feels pretty good that anyone would turn down that job to stay here. Hopefully that's a sign that the AD has made some commitments, and that Martin truly feels like he is building something here.
Bottom line is, he's staying, so hopefully the fans will see the positives.

They're overjoyed from the board reaction.

It's not often that half the fan base of the school that kept the coach is disappointed and seventy-five percent of the fan base of the school that didn't hire him away is celebrating.

only at Tn , They are happy they are not getting a mediocre coach and most are upset that were keeping a mediocre coach. I like Zo as a man but not as a Tn basketball coach.

Sources close to the negotiation indicate that the deal was sealed when Hart agreed to include a No-Hug Clause that Marquette was unwilling to match.

Disappointing and surprising. Martin will remain a mediocre coach, now with less talent at his disposal. I really thought it was in Martin's and UT's best interest for them to part ways.
