Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

I love just diving into random threads and seeing the first thread on a page with no context. It's hilarious. For instance:

How can you not chuckle if that's all you have to go by?

Alabama hired Lane Kiffin's long lost twin?

The only stickers that I think would be cool would be small white squares they earn. Each square would go on the orange stripe to make it checkerboard.

...but the problem with that is, it would look ugly unless you had the right amount

If the kids like helmet stickers then use helmet stickers. This whole "stick to tradition" crowd drives me crazy. I don't care what they do I just want wins and if doing something as simple as a helmet sticker helps in recruiting then by all means do it. Some of our fans on here are turning into the blue hairs pretty quickly

"I don't know dog...I like what Butch preaches and I really see better things for me in Knoxville....But Ohio State's GOT DEM STICKERS!!!!" :yahoo:

I agree. I still don't think he'll be the coach we want to stay with for years to come. Not to mention his style of offense is incredibly boring and infuriating. I feel like we have the athletes to run the court, aside from Maymon.

His defense is also incredibly infuriating - to the other teams. Defense wins games.

I'm having a hard time tempering my excitement for Hurd with these practice reports.

"He's only a freshman; He's only a freshman; He's only a freshman..."

Who is the last freshman that came in and made people this excited right off the bat, and that they legitimately expected to be an immediate and drastic upgrade at his position?

Eric Berry?

Bryce Brown? I don't think many people expected Hardesty to be as good as he was in 2009 and firmly lockdown the starting position. Might be a similar situation with Lane and Hurd this year.

I personally like the rewards stickers. Gives the players even more incentive to go out. We loved them in school. You never thought about them until the following Monday or Tuesday when they were handed out.

The stickers are fine as long as they stay on the practice helmets. ONE checkerboard sticker on EVERY helmet could be a nice touch.

I like the ones for winning games. Just not individual ones unless they are practice only

I bet you didn't have enough room for all the ones you got?

:p

On my way home to don my orange and head to Tiki Bobs for the Big Orange Tailgate before the game!

I had a few. :) my boys on the D-line were counting them up though. :) Team ones were given out too. Win, holding an opponent to less than 100 yards rushing, big hits, TFL, Pass deflections, ints, sacks, any type of big plays on defense or offense in general. Just a bit of a reward for the players. Kids are motivated by the little things. Just like OSU with the buckeye stickers or FSU with the tomahawk stickers. It's a lot of pride in having made a lot of big/winning plays. :)

Berry and B. Brown are good guesses. I think we're all hungry for big time players again.
