Ahhh I'm having nightmares about our offensive line. Could possibly start the year Gilliam, Jackson, Crowder, ?, Thomas/Kerbyson.

How many combined games of experience would they have? And basically all of it coming from Jackson.

Kerbyson and Crowder both have experience. Plus they have been in the program for three years now, so it's not like dropping true freshmen in at all the positions.

They poop but it smells like brats cooking on a charcoal grill. Mmmm

mmmm, brats

I thought it was a more divided reps are available if someone would distinguish them self from the pack.

After sitting in on quarterback meetings Tuesday and then watching his team practice that afternoon, Jones did tell VolQuest.com that repetitions could become less evenly divided at the quarterback spot --- if a player's performance dictates as much.

"They're going to earn their reps, so if they start performing they'll earn their reps. If individuals are struggling a little bit, we're going to back off their reps," Jones exclusively told VolQuest.com. "Everything is earned in our program, so they're going to have to earn their repetitions."

I guess it goes both ways

This is a really really theoretically long way off, and I'll be the first one to say I hope to the big man upstairs it doesn't end like this, but if the whole Butch Jones thing doesn't work out here at UT people are gonna point to the QB situation as the first crack in the foundation. I seem to recall there was some waffling with the QB at Cincy with Munchie Legaux and Brendon Kay too.

For the record, I'm a firm Jones believer. My post history shows that, clearly. The QB thing worries me, though. Arguably, the inconsistency in QB play plus the Clawfense experiment was what led to the downfall of Phil.

Just throwing this out there, don't get your orange bloomers twisted.

Say Purdue comes a courting for CCM, I wouldn't mind Archie Miller.

I want CCM to stay but should he leave for his school.

HIDE YOUR WIFE....HIDE YOUR KIDS!!!!

It's going to be:
Blair/Gilliam-Jackson-Crowder-Kerbyson-Thomas

3 experienced guys in the interior. Idk I'm not too concerned

While he obviously won't participate in Pro Day next week, it's time to lend some credence to the Jarnell Stokes the football player rumors. It isn't just rumor. There's some merit to the discussion. How much so? Well, multiple NFL teams have inquired about Stokes' seriousness to play football. It gets better. At least two NFL general managers, not just scouts or support staff, have made calls to ask about Stokes' viability as an NFL prospect down the road.

I expect it will be narrowed to a 2-3 man race before or right after spring game. I would normally say two so team could focus around them as leaders in offseason but I think they keep it at 3 to avoid transfers before season.

I think part of consistency issue is prob consistency in reps. We need to cut someone out of the main reps to get some more to the top 2-3 guys

In other team news, Dontavius Blair did not get much work with the first-team offensive line on Thursday. Why? Because redshirt-senior walk-on Jacob Gilliam, from nearby Farragut, has both outplayed and been more consistent than Blair, we are told.

Dimarya Mixon continues to push inside in what is a rotation that presently looks nothing like what will take shape this summer. Nonetheless, with Jason Carr sidelined by a right wrist injury, Mixon is moving up inside.

Emmanuel Moseley continues to garner the majority of snaps at first-team cornerback opposite Cam Sutton; in fact, Malik Foreman and Jaron Toney have backed up Justin Coleman at the nickel as the Vols try to maximize the reps for Moseley.

While it's no surprise that Jakob Johnson has done work to become a second-team player at linebacker for the Vols, it's a bit surprising that joining him in the second-team linebacker rotation is freshman prep school product Colton Jumper, a former standout at Chattanooga Baylor.

Daniel Helm continues to impress at tight end, garnering a good number of first-team reps this week and particularly on Thursday.

Dylan Wiesman continues to cross-train between center and both guard spots; he remains someone the Vols' coaches absolutely love because his work ethic, style of play and demeanor.

The quarterback reps remain fairly even, though the fact of the matter is that both Riley Ferguson and Jalen Hurd got some critical first-team reps in Thursday's practice when the Vols went into some intense team drills late in practice. That's also when Josh Malone continued to command more first-team time.

Mosley and Sawyers will see significant PT this fall. The Sawyers pickup was massive.

I don't think C. Mosely will make much impact year 1. He seems like one you need to get in weight program and mold into a future terror. Sawyers, Barnett and Robertson will be the 3 most likely making noise IMO on interior. Barnett is going to be a beast. I really like Robertson to make an impact at some point somewhere whether its oline or dline.

I think the coaches are started to hint that the 4 way competition is over - we will start seeing the top 2 getting a lot more reps to try and really identify who "the guy" will be - it will likely start with whoever is #4 getting much fewer reps - then you will start to see 2 emerge - and hopefully going into fall camp we can have a starter

I also think it is too early to give up on Blair at LT - many juco guys have a hard adjustment period - he has the spring/summer and fall camp to get it together and I think he will

My comment was basically in reference to the players wanting to be treated as employees but "not really" treated as employees. If any one of us worked and received some kind of compensation (received something in return), then it is usually taxable. Even bartering is considered income in the tax code. I agree these guys work alot and put in "work" hours, but I am on the side that believes these players benefit from the college level to promote themselves for the professional level. Big time college football gets you noticed.

It is a polarizing subject, and everyone has a different opinion. This unionizing deal is a little different than the discussion regarding paying them.

understood - I know there are a lot of layers to this and I am not sure unionizing was the right approach - but i am a crazy libertarian like Ron so I never agree with unions - then again - I wouldnt have income tax either so it would be a moot point

carry on - do like reading your opinions on the matter
