Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

Ratings lie all the time. Fiat had a five star crash test rating, and the feds retested and said they failed. Same as the car companies in general. You think all college polls and recruiting ratings are accurate to. Ratings are just somebody's opinion.
The NFL is going for a money grab like pigs. It will get them slaughtered when their rabid fans walk out on them because of the reasons I listed.

Nobody notices the sudden boost of soccer fans over the last 10 years? If you don't, you're in denial.

Soccer is growing. I'll grant that. I even enjoy watching it.

But saying its going to start denting the NFL sounds like some guy making his first $100k and wanting a membership at Augusta. He's doing good but nowhere near where he needs to be yet.

I agree completely, but I do want to say that Seattle Sounders sell out their football stadium on a regular basis. So in some areas of the country, it's grown by leaps and bounds. I'm proud of how far the MLS has come so far!

NASL was in no way superior to MLS. NASL tried to be MLB (no salary cap) without the same financial stability. MLS is a far superior league with a strong central league office, which controls the player contracts, while growing the clubs and fanbase organically.

I only meant in quality of player vs the international counterparts

You're losing the over 50% that don't watch sports. That'll kill cable companies easily.

And old people. Old people are hanging on to their cable. Younger folk are leaving. That's all anecdotal of course. No doubt the cable companies are very concerned.

It'll be interesting to see where it all goes, but people will get their sports in the comfort of their living rooms. Of that, I am fairly certain.

Correct I may become a cord cutter and ditch DirectTV but I will get Sunday ticket and I will get my sports - I don't care to pay ESPN or the NFL direct or Netflix or Amazon On demand if they choose to host this content

i actually have both cable and netflix and Amazon on demand so I dont see the rise of those things as necessarily having anything to do with a drop for the NFL

could change what people watch it on but not whether they watch - people are ditching cable b/c they are sick of the NFL

Give it time. People at one point never thought the NFL would dent the MLB. Everything has a life on it.

I'm hoping Google Fiber becomes a game changer in the next 10-20 years. I can't wait to get rid of Comcast internet.

Nashville is on the list of soon-to-be Google Fiber customers. I wish Google would stop slow-playing it.

I've read the other cable services lower their prices in areas where Google Fiber pops up. Color me shocked. :glare:

Amazing what competition will do.

"On the field, Jones couldn't return to work without ushering his players back with their circle-of-life drill. Gerald Orta battled Alden Hill while LaTroy Lewis took on Austin Sanders. Rookie tight end Ethan Wolf battled fellow midtermer Neiko Creamer.

Dylan Wiesman and Dimarya Mixon also did work in the circle, as did Marcus Jackson against Jordan Williams --- who was playfully told by Jones he was his "favorite player for the day." That battle lasted through two or three whistles.

Jakob Johnson took on Kenny Bynum, largely to a standstill though Johnson ultimately took Bynum to the ground. Woody Quinn apparently took on Derrick Brodus near the end of the Vols' circle work.

In the secondary, Emmanuel Moseley continued to rep ahead of Malik Foreman at one cornerback opposite Cam Sutton, with Justin Coleman still at nickel."

Lol @ Brodus going against Quinn. Just shows what they think of Quinn's physicality.... Smh

Why does the increase in soccer fandom have to coincide with a decrease in nfl fandom? I consider myself a hardcore Vols, Bears, Chelsea, Stl Cardinals, Stl Blues, Chicago Bulls, and MLS fan.

If St. Louis ever gets a MLS team, I will become a fan instantly

EDIT: I'm a huge Arsenal and USMNT fan
