Just stop... No way Martin should be in the bottom half of Sec for coach's salary. First year was mess and nobody thought we were doing much. He had a nice run and everybody got their hopes up and were let down by the nit. He over achieved that year. Second year we were about where most thought we would be, if we make it in like we should have everybody would have looked at the season different. To me this year the team undrrachieved a bit and should have been safely in. He has made up for it in the tourney though. We beat a solid Iowa team and handled a UMASS te easily. Martin should get a hefty raise and an extension. I do however hope they can keep the buyout low. Who knows what next year will bring but I would give him 2 more years at the very least. Martin is a good coach and I believe he will get better with time.

Pay the man to keep the man. Extend his contract so that he can recruit and the kids feel like he will be here with them.

If we are fortunate enough to beat Mercer, what will your rationale be then? "We're granting an extension for beating a mid-major program?" What if we went on, then, to knock off Michigan? Would that fit your litmus test? Pay the man! Stability is HUGE in collegiate sports programs, in case you haven't been paying attention the past few years. And by the way... if Tennessee doesn't pay CCM,...SOMEONE will! For ADs..NOW is their recruiting season.

Question for the people that think Cuonzo can't recruit... His first full class was the 2012 one. He signed a 5 star in 2012 and a 5 star in 2013... and two of his three star recruits contribute in major ways. Moore and Darius. That seems like pretty solid recruiting to me.

Funny how things work. A couple of losses and most everyone is calling for Martins head and then a couple of wins and people think Martin is the second coming of Christ. Lets not forget that Martin had his most talented team in his 3 years as coach at UT and barely squeaked into the NCAAT. Lets wait till we see what he does next year before we start bowing at his feet.

The Cuonzo-Boling Arena?

You guys crack me up on here.

He backs into the tournament and gets perhaps the best draw in the history of UT tournament basketball and everyone goes from pitchforks and bonfires to giving him an extension and a raise.

I am glad to see this team win but we don't need another moronic decision by an AD with an "8 is enough" Fulmer type contract.

If he actually cares about his players and the program, he can stick it out for another season under his perfectly good contract and prove he is all in for getting UT basketball back into the national discussion.

If he wants to bolt, so be it. Plenty of other marginal mid major coaches out there that would jump at a pay raise.

Pearl fans, get over it .. Bruce Pearl has left the building...can you say now that Coach Martin has not upgraded the play of Stokes, McRae, Richardson since they were freshmen...as freshmen McRae averaged 1.8 per game, Richardson 2.9 per game, Stokes 9.6...now McRae 18.7, Richardson 9.6, Stokes 15.1....this team is finally doing what Coach Martin wants...Intense defense, get the ball to Stokes.. prior to this last month, the players only committed half way, now 100 percent. Get on with it, raise and extension...

Now that Pearl is at Auburn a lot of the pressure is off to bring him back. CCM appears to have the respect of his players too. No way Auburn will ever let Pearl get away either. Go Zo!

And he's done more with it than 1/3 of your loverboy's years, taking advantage of the great fortune (unlike a certain year where not blowing it late and a championship game appearance was very likely due to the great draw). Get over it. You're just mad that he's dancing and winning games so you are trying to discredit it because he's not a certain other coach.

First and foremost, Martin is a class act. But I have also been saying all year that this team has great talent and the coaching is totally lacking. This run in the Big Dance just proves my point. Where has the coaching been all year? I can easily see why attendance is down in TBA and I expect it to be worse next year.

I'd give him 3 and a good raise. We'll see what kind of AD Hart is. Personally I don't think he knows diddle about BB and the stat we saw where UT makes more money in BB than anyone but Kentucky but pays their coach's dang near the least is proof they know nothing.

So by your logic: if we win this tournament... you can say the coaching sucked this year and the national championship proves it?

Maybe, just maybe, it is exactly like Barton said: they (the players) are doing what Martin has been asking/telling them.
