The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Fair enough. I'm off today, just have to drive back to Ft Bragg. I was in layers and my golf rain gear, so I stayed dry. Wasn't ideal, but I could tell I was better off than a lot that chose to stay.

I saw a few in shorts. Idiots.

I'll probably take Monday off next year. The rain compromised not only the race, but my post race Pals visit as well. That's unacceptable. I sense a trip to Morristown is in my near future.

I did walk all the way around the track, which was cool. I learned a lot about how it's put together. And somehow we brought home more coolers than we left with, so that was a plus. But I'd trade those 'highlights' for 500 laps.

You going to the Alabama Grand Prix this year?

question for those that know the track. There was a very small section, essentially a line, between coming out of turn 4 and before the start/finish line. Officials tirelessly worked at drying it with leaf blowers and the jet dryers and air titans sped over it as if they could mess it up with their equipment. Again, it was between turn 4 and the start finish line, and literally only a few inches wide. If someone knows what that line is, I'd be forever grateful to learn.

Yes.

See if you can find a picture.

My guess though, is that it's just a crack in the concrete they were worried would come up with the large track drying equipment. But again, total guess here.

We didn't take a picture unfortunately and I'm not having any luck finding any. A crack from the concrete was a theory we had, it just seemed odd to put that much care into a crack when there are a lot of them all around the track. Or at least should be just based on the physics of concrete.

It was just after the line to start taking off from a caution back to green. If you find pic of turn 4, it ran from the Irwin logo on the wall down to the L in Pittlite that was written on the apron. Also of note, next to it, three of five pillars between the safety wall and actual wall were pink while all around track all the others were black. Doubtful the two are related, but I'm just trying to paint a picture as to where on the track it was.

Timing and scoring data line maybe?

Now that's what the fans want to see!! Great job K. Larson! Fending off one of the best Winston Cup drivers in Kevin Harvick is something he should be real proud of!!
