It's doubtful that UNC will see any further sanctions from the NCAA for the academic fraud that took place and their scholarship reductions are already over.

UNC defensive coordinator made $250k last year. Tommy Thigpen made $345k. As a position coach. You think they're going to pay him what he's worth of that's how they pay their coordinators?

OP makes up the rumor bc he knows Chizik is going to UNC. He then says he heard it somewhere. Then everyone freaks out and starts giving advice that UT should pay him when they are completely unaware that he's making 100k more as a position coach than the last UNC DC. He is in line to get a raise anyway. Relax folks.

Thig had no choice but to leave UNC when he did. John Blake was almost single handedly bringing down the program and he wanted no part of it. Some UNC fans say Thig has always wanted to come back but was waiting until the program was cleaned up and the NCAA sanctions were over before he did. I think he really likes Knoxville so we'll see. Can't blame him for going back home if that's what he chooses to do. We can find a another great recruiter and linebacker coach.

Wonder if UNC fans will pull his Tar Heel for life card if he stays.

The NCAA issues at UNC are getting heavy around there again. It hasn't been cleared up.

The OP didn't make up the rumor it was out there before he started the thread. Yes UNC's last DC only made $250k but there is absolutely no way Chizik will be working for that. Whether UNC would be willing to pay Thigpen over 350K is another story. Really don't see how they can without significantly increasing all their other assistant coaches but maybe they will. All pure speculation but it's not a baseless rumor.

That would make sense except for the fact that he has a top 5 recruiting class, first bowl game in 4 years, and vast improvements on defense/team speed. Carry on with your lunacy you certainly have a lot of help from several on this board
