I know what you are hinking but Florida's freshmen that were in that rotation are no where close to our talent

Warren started midweek last year and developed because of it but the freshmen you named in another post are no where close to being high mlb draft talents like Floridas guys

The problem CDS has had is not getting the same kind of elite talent on his roster that how he has developed them IMO

What is the difference between Sr. Steven Kane and Fr. Will Neely?

Neither are in the rotation right?

Kane is experienced and I am sure CDS is leaning toward experience in those bullpen key moments

Now to side with you

I would like to see neely start midweek to develop but I am not seeing his entire body of work to know how he was in the fall or preseason

The difference is Upside.

Kane is a known. He had a 7.47 ERA in SEC games last year and a 9.64 ERA in SEC games this year.

Granted, Neely, lol is at 9.00...but...wait for it...

b/avg for Kane in SEC games is .462 WOW!

b/avg for Neely in SEC games is .286

4th best on the team.

The fact it's a discussion about these 2 should tell us all we need to know about our talent level

Teams like Vandy are throwing future 1st rounders in the midweek and we are throwing former walk ons. All we need to know

What about Lipinski vs. Reid? They are both closer types, look it up.

Got to solidly disagree with you on that one

Lipinski has the closest thing to closer stuff we have with some velo while Reid is a soft lefty right?

Don't get me wrong I am not defending CDS. Hell my first post in this tread named my choice for our coach next year but this year I think he is doing the best he can with the roster he has

That's you're way of saying, "I'm too busy to look up the stats and even if I wasn't Reid doesn't pass the eye test."

Stats in a very limited sample size don't make a low 80s situational lefty a closer

Sorry

Good to hear from you Firestorm! Been wondering about you, where ya been?

To be frank Ive been slacking in listening to the games and posting in game threads.

Also I seriously thought because I didn't look at the roster for pitchers that before this season started it be a good season for the vols with them producing a winning SEC record.
I'm damn wrong, and each weekend of reading the Sec Vols results has lead to despair and discouragement so not surprised I haven't posted much for the 2016 Vols Baseball season.

Also been occupied with hair regrowth which is my primary goal in 2016. Also working out 100 days in a row so been going to the gym.

Well, seems like you have lots going on. Maybe you could just give us a drive by shout out every now and again, you always have a way of putting things that I believe is interesting.

I agree, thought Slim might be able to help us with the bats and that Cox, Martin, K. Serrano and Warren would yield us a great rotation...that's why I don't get paid the big bucks.

Are you apologizing or telling me to go F myself? :)

Just kidding. I know what you meant.

Lol

Didn't mean to come off that way

My impression is Reid faces a lot more lefties than the normal pitcher so his stats are skewed that way

Just a specialists IMO

Again I am not defending the situation but our roster really only has 2 "real" sec talents.

Senzel and warren. After that not much mlb high draft guys like the rest of the sec has

I'd have to think about that a bit...I think Neal...there are a few younger guys, I guess they haven't earned the trust to get a chance yet, obviously Westphal...

I've been thinking about something Showme said...wanna talk about that...only have a couple beers left. :)

What's the topic?

Well Showme thought that CDS would get another year, maybe if they make Hoover...I'm not sure if it was qualified that way, but he basically implied, or I took at as he implied that the admin cares that little about the baseball program.

That may very well be true.

I've been working under the premise that we need to make a regional because just getting to Hoover has not warranted an extension and of course Hart did not hire CDS...but

Kyle has another year.

What do you think of that, and not just you...everyone?

I'm hopeful but you have to look at reality that it would be an uphill climb to have a middle of the road finish and get invited to a regional..I like CDS and I think he has had some bad luck but I think he loses his job this year...I wonder if Andy Lopez misses the game? He is only 62

I agree. At this point it's hard to imagine the numbers working out to make a regional.

Before Showme posted i was like you...but then I thought about Kyle. You aren't just firing a coach, Kyle will also have to make a decision.

I wonder if that makes a difference to Hart, to you or me. It's just something I hadn't thought about until Showme, who I respect, had posted. I don't know and am not trying to imply that he meant anything...just that his post made me start looking for reasons the admin might let him have another year if he doesn't make a regional.

If I have done a poor job in describing Showme's post I apologize in advance.

Just a VOL fan who loves baseball. Losing series like this is disappointing, but I'm still going to Hoover! Nothing like the SEC Baseball Tournament. Surely Tennessee can be in the top 12 to qualify! :clapping:

Yeah that might make a difference...and honestly I don't know of anyone that could have turned it around other than stealing Corbin..we are just so far behind in talent and have a CWS champion in state and conference not to mention other great teams to recruit against

But really not super occupied. Like I said mainly I'm slacking on posting while listening to the live games.

Since saturday and sunday are both typically afternoon games I could listen and post in game threads. Also on Fridays small sacrifice to workout in the afternoon instead of the evening like I usually do so I can listen to friday evening games plus post.
