As discussed, degrees are already being watered down to such an extent that they are now the equivalent of a 1950 high school education. What's next? Maybe what was old is new again? And the type of degree matters. A degree in Chemistry or Engineering is not like a 1950's high school education. I took honors chemistry in high school and when I got to UT I was like WTF MATE?! Same for math.

What makes you really think they are going to be around forever? A college degree can be 'earned' now in your jammies without ever leaving your home. That was never available before. Your instructors can live lecture to your laptop.

I agree that certain degrees (like chemistry) will more than likely have to be earned in a brick and mortar setting, but some of these crap degrees they are handing out will be done at Starbucks. Other liberal arts degrees will as well, which will reduce the size of the brick and mortar institutions. It will save tons of money.
They will become more like trade schools albeit higher level trade schools.
