Have you watched Mizzou?
Slide over, Holly!
Rick needs a seat on that out-of-town bus you'll soon be on for your one-way trip from Knoxville.
And please don't bring up the talent issue...Mizzou is the worst team by far in the SEC both talent and coaching wise
Worst loss of the year
No excuse for the loss. But if you compare their high school rankings against ours, I think they would actually be comparable or better. We have no inside game, so even though Rosburg has not been great in his career, he was able to play well. Walton, Wright, Gant, and Clark were all 4 stars. Puryear, Phillips, and Isabel were 3 stars. Other than Hubbs and Mostella, who don't play like their high school ratings, our team is made up of all 3 stars, some of whom are still learning. Shows you how bad this roster is right now.
Talent is not all about "star ratings". A bunch of our players have developed into being really good - credit Barnes for that. But just losing to that team can not happen.
Does it matter? This team can win or lose any game any day. Not saying that it's not frustrating, but there's no point in whining about it given the circumstances.
I get it - no one likes it when we lose - but this season was a wash before it began. If we weren't hovering around .500, then yeah, freak out over this Mizzou loss. But what does it matter? Sure, we were favored to win, but what is there to REALLY be upset about? We haven't blown ass on the (w)hole (lol) for the season, so that's good enough for me.
Punter. That's it. Moore does not play like a senior at times, and Baulkman is so hot and cold. No inside game hurts when you need key buckets late in games and to help defend and rebound when you get leads. This started the season with flaws, and people shouldn't be surprised by these outcomes. When they shoot well, they can overcome the above and occasionally win.
As I stated before - make 3's, make FT's and play 40 minutes of D. Without it, they do not win. Do it and they win many more. No margin for error. They took the first half off. Hubbs & Stella with 2 points each to make up the bench scoring with Schofield nothing. Out rebounded by 15 boards and poor FT shooting. Play up to or down to competition.
I don't know what y'all want out of CRB. He let them know exactly what needed to be done and got in their faces a few times. Armani Moore has not learned anything with the ball in his hands at the circle. Still makes dumb mistakes like a true freshman. They need him to do what CRB wants him to do, but he can't or won't. That's one of the faults I see in the system design along with not getting Stella in the flow, but there are really very few options when you have one guy on the roster with height that can play, but is a true freshman. The only guy that can actually play the point OK is the #1 scorer. After him there is a huge drop off in scorers and ball handlers.
Again - I want to see Alexander, Schofield and Phillips a lot. They need Hubbs and Stella to get in the flow every game from here on out so they have two scorers ready next season. Develop for next season and let Punter get his points. He deserves them.
Well, this was as close as there is to one. Mizzou hadn't won in over a month, and honestly they played rather poorly themselves. We basically just sucked more.
