If the NFL Draft was in December this year, AJ might have gone...but then again, so might have J Williams and Coleman...crazy to thinnk about that...

Back in the 60s the NFL draft was held in December each year - or in a few cases, the end of November - and dated as being for the upcoming season.



1961 Draft - Dec. 27-28, 1960
1962 Draft - Dec. 4, 1961
1963 Draft - Dec 4, 1962
1964 Draft - Dec 2, 1963
1965 Draft - Nov 28, 1964
1966 Draft - Nov 27, 1965



History: Pro Football Draft History - The 1960s

It didn't move to the earlier part of the year until after the NFL and AFL merger.

The 1967 draft was on March 14, 1967, but the draft jumped to the last weekend of January of each year until 1976, when it finally moved to April, before moving to the first weekend in May in 1977.

It then moved to late April in 1980 and pretty much stay there.
