White House press secretary Sarah Sanders faced a battery of questions Wednesday about Stormy Daniels, the porn actress who filed suit against President Donald Trump this week alleging he hadn't signed a nondisclosure agreement that would have prevented her from discussing their alleged sexual affair.
Sanders attempted to stave off the questions by referring them to Trump's outside lawyers. But she did reveal that -- as far as she's aware -- Trump himself did not know his lawyer Michael Cohen made a payment to Daniels in October 2016 to ensure her silence.
"Not that I'm aware of," Sanders said when pressed whether Trump knew about the payment. "Anything beyond what I've already given you, I would refer you to the President's outside counsel."
WASHINGTON President Trump has won an arbitration case against ex-porn star Stormy Daniels, who is fighting in court to tell her story about their alleged affair, according to the White House.
I can share that the arbitration was won in the presidents favor, and I would refer you to the presidents outside counsel on any details beyond that," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday.
Michael Cohen, Trump's personal lawyer, did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
Reached by phone, Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti told USA TODAY: "Yeah, and he also won the popular vote." He declined further comment.
The news of the arbitration case and the White House's refusal to answer most questions about the legal battle marked the latest twists in the ongoing drama over the alleged relationship and efforts to keep it under wraps.
This is getting really confusing.
White House: Trump won arbitration case against Stormy Daniels
There was an arbitration of a claim against the President, but the President had no role in it and is not the subject of the agreement? Huh?
The only way he "won" is if he made a claim to enforce the deal and it went to arbitration. To do so, he IS ADMITTING the deal is his, otherwise he does not have standing.
What a frickin idiot. They've just admitted to the deal and probably to the foundation for the campaign law violation and the conspiracy to hide it.
This is getting really confusing.

I do. You're too young. No, but they both figure into my overall opinion of the presidency. Not the man, he's slime. The bigger the slime the bigger the accomplishments have to be to balance out the scales.
And yes, it is a balancing act between the two. Jimmy Carter seems to have been a very principled man, but his presidency was not very successful. I look back on his presidency with an "At least he tried."
Nixon is an example of someone whose ethical lapses completely overshadow what would have been a very good presidency. Now nobody remembers that.
I'm guessing if she wins this case, there will be a lot more who come forward. Apparently, this is one of Trump's things. He has affairs and then requires NDAs to be signed. He actually uses NDAs for most relationships he enters, likely because he's so concerned with his brand.
This is getting really confusing.

I just continue to marvel at the White House claim that Trump has won an arbitration ruling coming from a provision of an agreement focused on an incident he says never happened.
Makes no sense.
To tell you the truth part of me wondered whether Huckabee Sanders put that little hand grenade out there and pulled the pin just to spite Trump for making her lie like a rug every day. But then I saw that Daniels' attorney was served with an injunction. So they knew that was coming and decided to put that out there on their own followed by "no more questions!"
I'm curious who will be the first Trump supporter on here to say "It's reached the tipping point, I can no longer support Trump." Surely, someone will rise to that conclusion.
