Yall watch out for the name "Shy Tuttle" you'll be hearing it often #VFL

Also encouraging to hear Reeves-Maybin's response when asked about the best hit of the day: "I'm going to say Gavin Bryant on Ray Raulerson. Gavin is probably one of the hardest hitters on this team. If someone is in his way when he is running it is not a good place to be."

Looking forward to seeing Tuttle in action.

Really hope Gavin Bryant gets to play on special teams coverage units. Would love to see him put some big hits causing turnovers.

Man I pray we our OL woes are fixed come game 1. Our offense will be deadly if they can be slightly above average as a unit. We have so many freaking weapons that it's not even funny. If everything comes together right, this will be the best offense we have had in a very, very long time.

Agreed. Everyone talks about McKenzie, and rightfully so, but Tuttle is going to be a beast also. This years d-line is going to be really good, but they are going to be down right nasty in 2016 with an experienced McKenzie, Tuttle, Barnett, Phillips, Butcher, etc. SEC football games are won in the trenches, and this team is headed in the right direction for sure thanks to Coach Jones and staff for getting it done recruiting.

For a man his size, Tuttle is extremely light on his feet. He's powerful, but he's also very agile for a DT. Combine that with a motor that never stops and the future looks nice with him and KMAC anchoring the middle.

Our D line is going to be as good as when Haynesworth and Henderson were playing DT and maybe even better with Barnett , Magitt, and Butcher at DE. September can't get here soon enough!

Regarding Mosely, and any underclassman for that matter, we all need to keep in mind that some players take longer to develop than others. In fact, most kids need a year or two before they are ready to contribute. Not every kid can be a Jalen Hurd, Jashon Robertson, or Derek Barnett. I am just excited to have some quality depth. Give them time.

"4. NEW QB IMPRESSIONS. A quick study of Tennessee freshman January quarterback enrollees Quinten Dormady and Jauan Jennings — and, to be fair, not from a large sample size — it’s clear to see why coaches believe Dormady is much more developed at this stage of his career as a passer. Jennings, to be kind, seems to have a long way to go as a passer, but he has a strong arm and a great work ethic and is obviously a great athlete. The biggest cosmetic issue with Dormady at the moment seems to be a reluctance to fully let it rip when he throws. Everything looks good until the very end, and it looks like he just doesn’t want to completely unleash his arm strength with the throw. It’s almost like a sprinter pulling up before the finish line. Perhaps that’s a natural thing, or even something he’s been told to do, because he’s only recently worked his way back from an issue with his throwing shoulder. Regardless, Dormady looks good as a passer, and Jennings looks great as an athlete but rough around the edges as a quarterback"

This is most likely a bad habit picked up from his Senior year here in Boerne. Q had some great kids at receiver, but they were never able to handle the mustard he could throw. He really had to put "touch" on all his passes. When he unloaded, it most often bounced off the receiver's chest. That led to a lot of interceptions his Senior year. With a lot of reps and coaching, that muscle memory problem should go away. Q really has a strong arm. My son was part of a good receiving corps that could catch the hardball for Q's sophomore year. He threw a lot harder as a sophomore than he was able to throw as a Senior.

Mosley put on a clinic in one of the drills. What a powerful young man. Tuttle looks like a monster. Butcher has a good base to start with. I get the feeling that he was cautious about gaining weight in HS. I see no reason why he won't fill out by fall.

As a long-time Vol watcher (nearly 40 seasons under my big orange belt buckle) Saturday's practice was the first time in 6 seasons that the Vols had the "look" of a traditional Fulmer/Majors era winner.

There were a lot of big bodies... and they weren't fat bodies. There was explosiveness with the hands, right down the line, in sled drills. Most importantly, everybody on the team seemed eager for contact.

Team 119 appears to be a talented squad with an attitude. (Workman-like and a more than a little bit nasty.)

I agree. They look so much faster than the previous five years.

The crazy thing is that they are mostly Freshmen & Sophmores.

You would think these practice threads would have a ton posts and pages. I guess all of our attention has been focused on basketball instead.

The difference between this team and the team Butch fielded in 2013-2014 season is crazy. Obviously not his team in 13-14 and now that he has the majority of his guys in, the turnaround in talen is evident. Let's hope it translates to many Ws this fall. Also Josh Dobbs was working at Knoxville catholic high school with a QB specialist on Sunday. That kids work ethic is crazy. He will be a Sec 1st All American,if not this year then next year.

Aw. Yess. From the article:

Shy is just that, shy, off the field. Quiet. A man of few words. On the field, he turns into King Kong. Mean, aggressive and explosive.

Line him up next to five-star monster Kahlil McKenzie and that’s what wins big-time in the SEC. That’s what separates the contenders to the pretenders: who has the elite level defensive linemen and who doesn’t. Tennessee fans know that full well.

Tennessee what you landed today is one of America’s best. One of the best I’ve seen.

Today, Tennessee, you got yourself a legit all day WAR DADDY named Shy Tuttle.

I reiterate: Aw. Yess.
