If we played them 100 times we might beat them once - only because their whole team came down with Zika.

Not sure even a Connecticut Zika epidemic would give us a win. That said, I'm fairly certain that the Zika outbreak and three of their starters on the bench with broken legs might be enough. Might. :eek:hmy:

Staley is no better as a coach than Warlick.

Seriously? Staley has her shortcomings but she turned a traditional SEC bottom feeder into the best program in the league. Holly turned what was the best program in the league by far into a middle of the pack team....

Dawn is a fantastic recruiter. On paper, she probably has the most talented team in the country. What does she do with that talent?

On paper, Tennessee also has a lot of talent. Holly has a new assistant who has done a fantastic job of recruiting for next year. What does Holly do with all the talent she has?

There is parity in WCBB when one realizes that the top talent is spread throughout the country. What sets the teams apart is coaching and the willingness of the players to put the interests of the team first.

Dawn has been as good a coach as Muffet for the past 3 seasons. They may have lost to Tennessee, but that's an aberration, not the norm, to lose to an unranked team. Tennessee has made that a given the past 2 years.

She's no Geno, but she's better than Holly by a mile.

I have noticed for years that Geno makes the defensive adjustments at half time which wins him the games. MM2 from ND torched Uconn for 20 in the first half last year. She was shut down in the second half. Last night Aja Wilson had a decent half. The second half she struggled against the defensive adjustments. Geno does not come out in the 1Q with winning defensive strategy in big games. He doesn't let the other coaches make adjustments to counter his strategy either in the first half or at half time. It is all about the level of coaching.
It also has to do with really practicing variations on both offense and defense so his players are comfortable with and understand the adjustments that he wants made. His teams are never 'one-trick' ponies - they are comfortable playing a transition game or a half court game, an inside out, or an outside in offense, zone, press, trap, man-to-man, switch everything or hedge and recover. They practice it all so when it is needed in a game they can switch things around. And he uses the blow-out games as extensions of the practices so they practice in live game situations what may be needed in the competitive games. They don't waste the time in uncompetitive games - he coaches and demands the same effort with a 40 point lead as he does with a two point lead.

I think you are right... yes numbers are great and for UC 100 in a row is good, but i do not think win or loss matters to either team.... check that.... a win or even close loss would mean something to Carolina

You're right....SC actually went up in the polls after this game!

UCM, I think you have seen this before. Geno practices not so his players can get it right, but so they can't get it wrong.
