Recruiting Violations Involving Torrance Gibson?

If UT was involved in any part of the story, it needs to self-report to the NCAA. Secondary violation. However, I don't believe any of it.

Never heard of that writer, is he credible? It all seems a little unbelievable to me. Maybe there is a tad bit of truth hidden in there somewhere, but who knows. If any of the story is true, hopefully the majority of it was made up, and based purely off of rumors.

Read the posts above. He already back off his 4 major points and admitted he was wrong when called out on it.

If true that is a lose-lose situation: Do you leave a teen out there on his own to find his way back to Miami? Or do you do the right thing and get this guy home which is an apparent recruiting violation?

Well. I hate to get into all this but I too, have some insider information. I don't usually like to bring this up but I am roomates with the lobsters cousin. The lobster happens to be one of the boosters in question. The lobster said it didn't happen. The escorts never happened, pulling the scholly never happened. The lobster did say that Jalen Hurd was "too tall" but after that I stopped listening.

TG does not strike me as a lobster type of guy.
Escorts on the other hand ...

I can't believe I fell for it again! 'Just read through five pages of garbage, and it was puked out from someone out of Florida! If there had been any violation by UT, then Butch would've already self-reported it and TG's not being recruited would have been notably obvious to the public. Neither have occurred. Simply the writer's admission to screwing up the facts is enough to realize it's another episode of "How the Recruiting World Turns." The only redeeming factor of all this is people take more shots at winners, and the Vols' chunk of wins hasn't even begun.

That story is fictional. In real news, however, I read over in the McKenzie thread that TG ranked in at #24 in the nation.

So he's not top 20 anymore?...and he hasn't played a game yet.

24 ain't bad.

No...it's actually very good...but whenever the possibility of him not being a take is broached, we hear that. "You have to take a top 20 talent"...Doesn't have the same ring when you say top 30...40...80?

People there is nothing to see here, why don't we keep focusing on the good that is happening at UT and the Coach Jones and UT are doing things the right way. I totally trust our admin and coaching staff, if our coaches want Gibson fine, if they don't fine. I am totally happy letting that be there problem knowing that we have great people at the helm. Some always want to stir something up. Last post on this subject, I just hope we can let this go away. GO VOLS!!

True, but it does have the same ring when you say top 25. I also believe he'll have the opportunity to actually play a season of football and improve his already impressive ranking the old fashioned way.

The article? If a booster gave him a bunch of perks and all of that story is true, it could be a problem for UT. If the compliance department gets mad when you put recruits names on a rock, I doubt they want people supply hundreds of dollars, hooking kids up with "escorts", and driving them to and from FL.

If coaches didn't know then no problem. Bammer can do whatever and nothing is said, so I worry not. Nothing to see here.

I just want to know if your room mate's lobster cousin knows who gave him a ride home while he was simultaneously on an airplane.

All this talk of Lobster... Am I the only who is now really craving a good lobster tail? :)

Possibly, but I doubt it. He certainly won't ever drop as low as Zach Gentry. 190. Ouch. :birgits_giggle:

He was my first choice...he must not be showing anything at camps...still has the ACTUAL SEASON to keep Strong from panicking and going after Dormady.

Not sure we should be using "lobster" and "tail" concurrently in this thread.......

Zing! :eek:lol:

Seriously though, with Kiffin's escort service now in Tuscaloosa, I don't think we have anything to worry about on that count. Our women are beautiful, amazing, and intelligent, not tail.

I still want lobster tho... :)
