Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals improved to 4-3 today by defeating the red hot Milwaukee Brewers. A lesser team would've folded and ran if a superior team like the Milwaukee Brewers had came to down on the grand opening of their new stadium.

Mark Mulder pitched 8 strong innings allowing only two runs while also hitting a two run homerun, the first of his career.

Despite Looper and Isringhausen's best efforts to blow the game in the 9th, St. Louis held on to win 6-4.

It's only been a week, but I already miss Julian Tavarez and Ray King in the bullpen to set up for Isringhausen. Izzy isn't exactly the top notch closer a team needs to win, but he's good for 30 to 40 saves a year at least.

I'm tired of the Brewers. They beat up on Pittsburgh and Zona and everyone was acting like they were the best team in baseball. They still suck.

Cardinals win again to go to 5-3 on the season.

8-3 over the Brewers. Another solid outing by Jason Marquis. This is good.

Isringhausen blows another one.

Three Cardinals' errors kept the Brewers in the game and forced it to extra innings, and in the top of the 11th Izzy has allowed a homerun to Carlos Lee. 4-3 Brewers with no outs, top of the 11th, and Isringhausen for some reason still on the Cardinals payroll.

!!!ISRINGHAUSEN GOT AN OUT!!!

And he is promptly yanked from the game in favor of some guy named Rincon.

Rincon got'em out of the inning and Aaron Miles led off with a walk.

Jason Marquis pinch-hit for Rincon and bunted Miles to second. Shoulda let Marquis hit a homerun.

Scott Spiezio the pinch hitter now. Flies out to center.

It's all up to Skip Schumaker now!

Skip strikes out swinging. That's the game. Brewers win 4-3 and the Cardinals fall to 5-4.

Jesus, Joseph, and MARY the Cardinals have no offense tonight. Being shut out through 8 by the Reds. THE REDS!!!

Edmonds, Molina, and Taguchi are all well under .200 for the year, Encarnacion is just a little over .200, and here's the big one, Pujols is only batting .273.

Carpenter allowed 1 run through 8... a frickin' single by the opposing pitcher drove in the lone run so far. C'mon Flores, hold'em! Maybe Rolen can do something leading off the bottom of the 9th. God forbid Taguchi and Molina get the bat off their shoulders.

Yeaaaaah boy, there's some offense. Cardinals win today 9-3.

Ponson pitched pretty well again, Pujols hit a HR, and Hector Luna had a good day swingin' the bat. Even the Cardinals' bullpen couldn't blow a 6 run lead in the 9th. Word.

6-5.

Thanks for showing up Suppan.

Pirates throttle the Cards 12-4.

Pujols is sick. 10 HRs.

...this season, not tonight. That would be a record, as Kenny Mayne would say.

8-6

4-0 St. Louis in the bottom of the 9th. Carpenter has pitched yet another gem, let's see if Isringhausen can blow this one too.
