Plus, you get a "For What?" for posting sushi pics from a third-rate Japanese steakhouse chain.

Miyabi is the best, dude. No clue what you're talking about.

To each his own. But, don't look foolish dogging Nama, bragging about your coastal fare, and then posting a pic from a nationwide hibachi chain with consistently mediocre reviews whose sushi likely comes from Atlanta.

There are 8 Miyabi spread across SC, NC, and GA....not sure which chain you're getting it confused with ("nationwide"). And with absolutely no reason for bias, I think Nama sucks compared to sushi I eat in SC. Most Knoxville restaurants are pretty good otherwise.

My bad, I just know I've seen them in multiple places, and I was underwhelmed the last time I ate at one. Looks like the one in Charleston clocks in at about #260 on Trip Advisor, though, so I guess my opinion is fairly common.

Also, visitors from Austin and Florida have all agreed that Nama is fantastic. Sorry you've had a bad experience there. I'd call it one of the 3-5 best restaurants in K-town. If you are back this fall, go to the Gay St location, sit at the sushi bar, and just order a set price chef creation platter using the fresh catch. You can specify what you like or don't, including heat, fruit, etc. Ilk be shocked if you don't change your mind.

I used to live in a loft on Gay St and have been to that Nama several times. I'm not sure about the Miyabi in Charleston, but the one I visit weekly is the Murrells Inlet location. Check those stats and get back to me lol.

Also, fyi, in the last 10 years I've lived in Boston, Destin, Fl, Knoxville, and SC...and the best sushi by far has been here in SC, IMO.

#29/89 isn't much to brag about, especially when Texas roadhouse is #21. The reviews look consistent with just about every Japanese steakhouse I've seen (poor service, long waits, hurried dinner, mediocre food).

Again, I like going for hibachi once in a while. I've just never had sushi worth a crap at a place like that.

Either way, Miyabi scores a 4/5 on TripAdvisor. Nama also scores a 4/5 on TripAdvisor. I can't imagine you'd get much better than that without hitting NYC. I just personally never liked Nama. I'll tell you where has the best hibachi in Knoxville. Misaki on Kingston Pike. It actually used to be a Miyabi back in the day, but the owner opted out of the franchise and changed the name.

I nominate you to go try both of these restaurants and declare the winner. :)

You know... I think I'm good actually! I'd rather not get in between two passionate sushi lovers. I might get hit with a spicy crunchy tuna roll. :)

The Kenjo Market/gas station on 411 South near Greenback has good sushi in the cooler. I eat it all the time.

Haha the funny thing is, I'm the only one that's actually been to BOTH restaurants.

I told you I've been to Miyabi. Now back down before I slap you with my Tsunami Roll. I can't help it if you have terrible taste.

I think we should actually have a VN man vs food trip and do just this. Since his joint is in Myrtle, let's bring our clubs and airbrush tees. We could plan the K-town half over a home game weekend.

I'm looking for one. I have a lot of hotel management experience so I'm looking to stay in the same field.

Yeah close for me(casino), if only they had legalized gambling there - I would be there in a flash.

Seems like it backs up in the afternoon from Oak Ridge merging to I-40 east and I-640 north backs up in the morning between Kingston Pike and the merge near Dutchtown.
