How does a person induce lag and what is hitching? I was reading the excessive grieving report on Madden and came across those terms.

I took it as players doing something to cause lag, but how? I've always wondered if that was possible because many times while beating someone, all of a sudden it only lags when I go on offense. I just made a comeback on a guy and he was kicked for excessive grieving while lagging...
