Derrell Scott vs Florida

Scott makes the backfield faster. If he's been schemed in, I suspect he'll make some contributory plays. If Von Pearson's back and fully mobile, then the quick passes won't be limited to Wolf (great option, though) and Pig, as well as Scott, who's supposedly adept at dumps, screens and draws. These youngsters are learning how to cross up pass rushers who've got their ears pinned back and, although the gay-duhs are fast and talented, I think the earlier experiences with OU's and UGA's hardball rushes may just pay off this Saturday. For those of you ragging about Young and Lane: Get real. They're going to end up being huge contributors by season's end. Here's to being optimistic!

Last year Neal was a dancer and Lane hit it hard. Now Hurd hits it hard and Lane is dancing in the hole. If Lane will just hit the line like Hurd he will look much better. With this line there is not going to be monster holes opening, just got to hit the seam hard.

Young has been tripped up by more grass than anybody I've ever seen! If you notice once he hits the hole, he stumbles every single time.

Yeah I agree. And he gets one 30-35 yd return every 100attempts it seems like. Or he'll return one from deep in the endzone to the 10 like in the OU game.

Lane is a good rb, injuries have been hurting his career since high school. There is no debate between lane and young. Lane is twice as talented. I can't believe you started this thread. This freakin guy.

We are not debating...Lanes done nothing so far...so I said I wouldn't mind seeing Young get a few carries. Thats all. Get off his @ick.

The short quick passes to VP was half the gameplan coming into the season I bet. Could've paid off huge vs UGA. He would've smoked Uga's secondary. I hope he's ready this week.

Young shouldn't see the field in any capacity.

Again, you don't even know the rules of the game.
When did you make the jump to talent evaluation?

Two different coaching staffs have started him.
Sorry, have to go with their opinion over yours.

If Scott plays against Florida he will make a huge impact on the game. We start out with hammering Hurd up the middle, then switch it up with the shifty Scott on a few delayed handoffs. As far as Marlin Lane, I'd rather Young get his carries. Lane has been a huge dissapointment this year. If Scott gets substantial playing time (at least 10 carries) wouldn't be surprised if he gains more yards then Hurd. Can't wait for this Saturday, GBO!!!!!!!

All our handoffs are delayed.

Another player who has never played a snap making the difference in a big SEC game for us? I don't put much faith in even the best HS film on players until they strap it on.

You mean like half of our roster? This is not the year to feign skepticism at the possibility of freshmen making a difference. Without those 22, we are a much different and much worse team.

Those two staffs are 1) the worst coaching staff in SEC history, and 2) a staff that lost to the worst coaching staff in SEC history.

I just don't get what anyone sees in him. Average speed and goes down on first contact every time.

The guys that know local HS talent in Knox area still laugh at the idea that he got a UT scholly.

Still not sure if he would start at Fulton right now.

And I would still take their evaluations over yours.
Your years of watching football on television doesn't mean you know what you're talking about.

This I agree with. He plays with an expectation of being tackled is looks like. As soon as contact or pre-contacted arrives DY almost looks like he just agrees with the defender's intentions and heads straight for the turf. Hurd OTOH appears to have the opposite mindset. Obviously more physically gifter, but has a "Your not taking me down mentality" it appears. Has led home to several big plays and a TD last Saturday.

DY is a great kid and bleeds orange it appears, but I have to agree with a lot of others here. He appears to not be ready for success on game day.

Would love to eat crow after Saturday, but I said the same thing last week and have witnessed this for the past 3+ seasons.

There hasn't been any love for Lane on this board despite the fact that he has been a team player and performed pretty well in the situations that he was called on. He can't help it the the OC called his number on two 3 and 5's, in which the defense on both occasions stunted and tackled him in the backfield. Yeah, that's definitely his fault. I specifically remember Lane celebrating the most on Jalen's first long run in the first series; a long run that was partially his doing because he picked up the key block.

But please, all you "vol' fans continue to bash Croom and Lane for doing the best they can and giving it all for Tennessee every Saturday. You only say you love the Vols, they had bled for it. This board is the definition of pathetic during the season. I'm heading back over to the recruiting board where at least some sane posters still reside.

You forgot the "Later Rednecks"

I've always been a big fan of Lane, and was hoping this year would be huge for him.

Has anyone noticed the every time he gets the hand off he has a jump step? Me and my brother-in-law kept noticing it in the first two games. Man you got to hit the hole hard not jump and then go.

I don't believer Hershel Walker had played a down when he ran over Bill Bates once upon a time. Would be good to see what we have in Scott. Maybe they want to redshirt him at this point....maybe not. If not, I'd like to see what he's got in the tank.

Had played a down but hadn't played in another game yet. (Hmmmm, posting what I mean the first time would be a good idea....)
