Dabo Swinney just...

Since we have the constant drumbeat of in conference losses chapping hides, thought I'd go back in the record to see how Dabo fared in conference losses only. His first season as head coach was 2008.

2008: Lost to Maryland, Wake Forest, Ga Tech, FSU,
2009: Lost to Ga Tech, Maryland, lost again to Ga Tech in ACC championship
2010: Lost to Miami, UNC, Boston College, FSU,
2011: Lost to Ga Tech, NC State
2012: Lost to FSU
2013: Lost to FSU
2014: Lost to FSU, Ga Tech
2015: Lost to nobody in conference
2016: Lost to Pitt NC

Looking through this Dabo was losing two or three out of conference games primarily Gamecocks and UGA owned them up until recently. Bowl games were win one lose the next year sort of thing. So in Dabo's total time as HC at Clemson, his first four years produced two of those years where he lost 4 games in conference not to even discuss his out of conference losses tacked on as well. So before people start pontificating about running off coaches 8-4 in their fourth year or 9-4 fourth year including the bowl,

Dabo Swinney at Clemson in 2011 his fourth season he was 9-3 overall, 9-4 including a bowl loss. Losses to Ga Tech, NC State, South Carolina, and bowl loss to West Virginia. Better know what the %$#@ you are doing when you start running off 9-4 coaches after their fourth year on campus is all I'm sayin'. Don't think Clemson fans were raw losing to NC State and South Carolina that 2011 season?!?!?

Great post Remy. Also, Dabo was a late missed FG away from not even being in the talk for the CFB playoff. Would have had 2 losses to vastly inferior teams. Beats Bama and now he's the hottest coach in CFB.

There's no guarantee that Clemson loses to Pitt if they had lost the game against NC State. A loss against NC St could have refocused them just like the Pitt loss did.

Muschamp won 6 games and 4 games his last 2 years at UF. It's not like he was overwhelming everybody else with this talent.
At the point the 2 teams stepped on the field Muschamp had more talent both times (2013-14). Injuries decimated FL as the season wore on resulting in the records you saw.

So Muschamp didn't get fired from UF for not being good but rather injuries costing him 2 seasons.

Btw, they Clem played OSU in Glendale.. not Columbus. And trying to cover up the fact that OSU was not a top 4 team by naming their coach is mind numbing. Once again, Butch owns Spurrier H2H. Lastly, Penn State won the B10 therefore they deserved to be there ahead of OSU pretty simple.

What Clemson just accomplished in their past 2 games is borderline historic. Trying to diminish it in ANY capacity is just stupid.

Look man, you can talk in circles all you want, but the argument that Muschamp owns Butch is even sillier than saying Butch owns Spurrier. For the 10th time, coaches coach and players execute. And the players on the respective teams matter. If Saban starts coaching at UTC and Butch beats him 10 years in a row, who owns who?

I agree it's been a heck of a run. I've said a few other times in this thread that I think Dabo is a phenomenal coach. I just think that coaching H2H records have always been a gross oversimplification.

Why did UF fire him?

Why did UF fire him?
Ultimately, he didn't recruit FL as well as he should have. Yet, still had more talent than TN. If Butch beats Saban 10 years in a row towards the end of Saban's career, yet Saban has the vastly inferior team, who owns who?

He recruited better than 4 wins and 6 wins his last 2 years. He got fired because he couldn't coach.

Hypotheticals to prove a point are awesome.

Well that's interesting. So coaching >> talent?

Well. The first mental block in your hypo is Jones beating any great coach 10 times in a row. Much less a guy that's probably going down as the greatest of all time before he quits. It's hard to consider it with a straight face knowing Butch is 2-2 against Vandy.
