No. According to USU fans, they will shut our rushing game down completely.

I personally think this will be a good game and our Vols will pull away late. Here are some amusing quotes from the Aggie faithful. Enjoy. Discuss. Flame away. GBO.

"Tennessee is the 4th-5th best opponent on a really bad schedule"
"Tennessee is going to have an eye opening experience"
"The reason I have my money on a laugher is that the Aggies have a Defense on par with anything in the SEC"

"It has been a long time since the Vols had a non-conference schedule like they do this year. There is a fairly moderate chance UT loses 3 of them"

USU is a good football team... they should be confident...and they are catching the Vols at the most opportune time of the season to steal a win.

HOWEVER... It won't happen for the Aggies. This match-up is reminiscent of the day Butch brought his 2nd Cinci team to Knoxville. UT will give up some plays... but will make many, many more.

UT 45 - USU 27

Florida would have finished around 4th in the MWC last year and tennesse would also finish around 4th in the MWC. While we would have finished somewhere near Missisippi St. if we were in the SEC.

:lolabove:

This is what you deal with on their boards.

not a good analogy, that Cinci team ran the ball down our freaking throats. Doofus had to onside kick to keep the ball away from them.

Some of their optimism seems to stem from the fact that they are our first game. For the most part, I agree that they should prefer to play us early rather than late given our overall youth.

But they shouldn't be banking on too many mistakes coming out of the gate. We had ZERO penalties in our first game last season. I don't ever remember anything like that happening. And, fwiw, we had (iirc) 4 INTs/TOs resulting in scores in game 2.

I enjoy reading the opponents message boards , to be honest this isnt near as bad as some I read before.
I remember years back like 100% of those Montana fans thought they were going to beat us. They got embarrassed

It's also not a good analogy for the sheer fact that it refers to Dooley's (the worst coach in Tennessee history) signature win which was against our current coach.

Good for those USU fans. It is great they love their program and believe they will win. Optimism never hurt anyone; in fact, we could take a few pointers on that around here. I hope their fans come, have a great experience and go home with their first "L".

I keep seeing some of you say that they have an excellent front 7. Dont they only have 2 or 3 of those front 7 returning? They have like 6 or 7 total starters returning for both sides of the ball.

Their fans are no different than the majority of our fans, they expect to win every single game their team plays. Not a very logical way of viewing their team but that's fandom for you.

yes, lost 4 of last yrs opening day front 7. Not near as strong in the interior D line either. You cant be a strong defense if your secondary sucks. we know first hand.

just as thin on the d line as we are. Only 5 of the 13 DL on the roster have ever played a D1 snap at USU. Two of those played sparingly

lost 50% of the LB depth chart from the 2013 season. They are super thin

wow fans that believe in their team..

Some of our regulars around here need to take notes..

of course they are wrong, we are going to destroy them. They do not have the speed or size to stay with us for long. They might make it a half decent game through the first quarter or so if Utah's coach hypes them up on enough emotions.

But lets face it.. we have third teamers that would be starting for them.

They have one player that has a chance to make it to the NFL. And I can name 10 off the top of my head that have a solid chance from our team.
