Yes. Roy Harper = Speedy, The Robin to GA's Batman, though they'll probably develop him more as Arsenal, the hero he eventually becomes. And yes, his name was actually Speedy. :birgits_giggle:

I like this show for it's simplicity but I'm not sure how I feel about having multiple vigilantes. It's a little ridiculous with everyone becoming a vigilante and vigilantes coming out of the woodwork. Maybe that's just the way it is I never followed any comics.

Possible BIG NEWS??

Could Stephen Amell's Green ARROW Join the JUSTICE LEAGUE on the Big Screen?

545960_530319953719943_143240074_n.jpg

Stephen Amell, TV's Oliver Queen on Arrow, has made no secret that he would like to monopolize the character. He has repeatedly mentioned in interviews that he'd love to join up with the Justice League on the big screen, and even voiced Green Arrow in the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Wednesday on his official Facebook page, the actor posted an image of an add for an old issue of Justice League of America - specifically the one where Green Arrow joins the team. The ad reads: "Here it is, the exciting news you've been waiting for! The Green Arrow Joins the mightiest heroes of our time as a full-fledged member of the Justice League of America!"

This set off speculation, which he has neither confirmed nor denied, that there have been some real conversations, if not deals, that will place Amell in a Justice League film - and could potentially connect the world of CW's ever-growing DC Universe on TV with the world of Man of Steel, its upcoming sequel referred to ubiquitously as Batman vs. Superman, and finally the Justice League film also in the works........

As it is right now, it doesn't seem as if they're in a rush to push Speedy...yet. The writers have done a good job at not rushing things too much. If they make a push with Roy this season, I think it'll be more toward the end, but I think they save it for season 3. I know right now the network has them focused on introducing the Flash this season so they can spin him off into his own series. The thing about a comic book universe is it is full of heroes. GA exists in a world with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern.... What the TV show will most probably continue to push though is how GA protects his city. Even when they introduce Flash, he'll be a visiting character, and when his series premieres, he'll be protecting his own city.

Just started on Netflix and enjoying it greatly. With all the Continuum and BSG actors popping up I'm guessing it's filmed in Vancouver. Hope Edward James Olmos pops up as a bad guy.

From The Hollywood Reporter!
Is 'Arrow' the Best Live-Action Superhero Show Ever? (Opinion)

Is 'Arrow' the Best Live-Action Superhero Show Ever? (Opinion)

This new quartet of Marvel shows hitting Netflix -- and ABC's "SHIELD" -- could learn from The CW’s adaptation of the classic DC Comic Green Arrow, which has been firing on all cylinders.

It’s probably safe to say that when Arrow premiered in October 2012, expectations were moderate. Even though archers had been making a comeback -- thanks to The Avengers’ Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and The Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) -- Green Arrow was never high on fans’ most-want-to-see-on-television list. And Oliver Queen as a character always felt a bit like Batman’s spoiled cousin: Rich kid goes through trauma, trains in the far East, returns to his city to lead his family’s corporation while donning a mask to fight crime.

But Arrow came out of the gate swinging -- and it doesn’t hurt when you have a guy with Stephen Amell’s abs working out with his shirt off, like, every episode. It recast Queen and his cast of characters in interesting ways. It gave him real trauma -- five years on an island, tormented by the death of his father and the young woman he dragged with him on a doomed pleasure cruise -- and real drama. He was driven, haunted, and when he finally made it back to Starling City, he was a stranger in his own land. And it all worked. The producers leaned into the Green Arrow mythos, took what they wanted and left the rest. So we got classic comics characters like Black Canary, Deathstroke, Deadshot, Count Vertigo, the Huntress…even the Royal Flush Gang. They went deep, and it paid off. The world is rich, the characters have depth, the stories have emotion and pathos, and things blow up real good. By arrows with explosives on 'em.

Which is, really, more than anyone can say for any other live-action superhero show, well, ever. (You will note that I’m specifically saying “live-action,” as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League would duke it out atop that list.) Of course, the competition isn’t all that fierce: The '60s Batman, Wonder Woman, M.A.N.T.I.S., The Flash, The Incredible Hulk, The Amazing Spider-Man, Blade, Superboy, Birds of Prey, even Smallville. Some of them may have had their moments -- after all, in 10 seasons, Smallville would have to, simply by the law of averages, deliver some entertaining television -- but none of them have sustained a real, consistent quality. (And, yes, Heroes had one legitimately great season -- which was all but erased by the seasons that followed.)

You'll notice that I didn’t include Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD in that list. It is still finding its footing, locating its voice. But where Arrow is telling a serialized story, driven by emotion, starring a diverse cast of characters, each of which has their own motivations and scars, Agents of SHIELD…isn’t. By design. It’s as though SHIELD is running away from its comic-book roots instead of finding ways to embrace them, while subverting them.

Could Agents of SHIELD find its way? Will Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage be what viewers want them to be? Sure. If Marvel lets them.

Marvel may rule the big screen -- and Thor: The Dark World is set to conquer this weekend -- but Arrow is single-handedly winning the superhero-TV space.

Dick Grayson headed to Starling City?

Nightwing To Make Guest Appearance on CW’s Arrow?
Nightwing's name has caused quite the buzz...

Rumored to be cast in Zack Snyder’s Superman vs Batman flick, Dick Grayson’s much anticipated appearance may acctually happen on CW’s Arrow first.

The Vampire Dairies star, Steven R. McQueen has been hinting at a possible cameo for the Knight of Bludhaven on CW’s current season of Arrow. The rumor took life when McQueen tweeted the following picture and caption, “Nightwing Training.”

This could simply be McQueen pitching himself to Arrow producers, and while this is a fun tease for DC’s superhero fans, there’s a lack of hardcore evidence here. But wait! Several days later, McQueen followed up with this tweet below, implying an actual conversation of the former Boy Wonder’s role on Arrow.

Arrow is a certainly a dark enough show to feature Nightwing, and if this is true, Arrow fans shouldn’t be too surprised as Bludhaven (Nightwing’s former stomping grounds) has been mentioned several times within the show.

The burning question though, if McQueen truly is our Nightwing, does this mean the cinematic and small screen universes aren’t connected? Or will McQueen be up for the cinematic role as well? There has already been plenty of rumor as to whether or not Stephen Amell will show up as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in the upcoming Justice League. All of this is obviously still speculation at this point, but if McQueen is our new Nightwing, do we see him as a good fit? Who do you think? Is there anyone else we have in mind for Batman’s former sidekick? If so, be sure to sound off in the comment section below.

Not a fan of this idea. Opens up a big can of worms and just isn't worth it it IMO.

With the rumors coming out about the Batman & Superman film it makes since and is looking more and more like they will soon be tying the Arrow universe to the new film universe.

Big BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Movie Rumors -

- The Flash will be in the film, but he will not be in costume for the movie. He will only be seen as Barry Allen.

- Apparently WB wants Grant Gustin, who is playing the Flash in the upcoming CW series, to make a cameo as Barry Allen in the film, but that it all depends on how the audience reacts to him when he makes his debut on the small screen (Arrow) later this year.

Brief New Info on BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

We've got a little bit of new information to share with you regarding Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman. It's not a lot of information, but it does offer some insight into what we might see in the movie. The info comes from Warner Bros. producer Daniel Alter.

There are some potential SPOILERS here, so if you don't want to know then don't read the following tweet...

Can't wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore.. Controlling drones from the batcave.

We already knew that Affleck would be playing an older, more reclusive Batman, and I just assumed if Dick Grayson was going to be in the movie they would be estranged. The drones thing is a pretty cool little tidbit though! I could see Batman using drones to help him fight crime. It's actually a pretty great idea. I hope if turns out to be true.

Not against tying the two universes together, but Green Arrow in the movie should be portrayed as older. Dick Grayson and Roy Harper are contemporaries in the comic books. They were both sidekicks and founding members of the Teen Titans. Just don't like the idea of introducing Dick Grayson as an older character.

And yes, I get the movies are different from the comics, but as a fan of both, there are certain things I am loathe to see them toy with. This is one of them.

They are apparently going with the DC Comics NEW 52 for the cinematic universe.

That means a younger Oliver Queen. Take for instance the cover to Green Arrow #17 used on his Wikipedia page.

Finally caught up on Arrow. It's a little bittersweet, though, because binge watching them has been fun. One of the best shows on TV, IMO.

Some Big News on The Flash!

First Images of Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in Arrow

First Images of Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in Arrow

Fresh off the heels of the latest announcement about his own TV series, The CW have released the first images of actor Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in his upcoming debut on Arrow. Set to be featured in the eighth episode of the new season, Gustin will appear in two episodes of the hit series before spinning off into his own potential series, "The Flash." Titled "The Scientist," the episode is described as follows:

"A seemingly impossible robbery at Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division brings Central City police scientist Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) to town. Citing a similar case back home, Barry offers to help Oliver and team with the investigation. Oliver senses there is more to Barry than meets the eye, but he’s distracted by the similarities between this current case and something that happened on the island. Meanwhile, Felicity takes a liking to Barry, which doesn’t go unnoticed by Oliver. Sin (guest star Bex Taylor-Klaus) asks Roy for help when a friend of hers goes missing. Roy is surprised when Thea not only encourages him to help, but joins the search. Unfortunately, Sin’s friend is connected to Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro), and their search ultimately gets one of them seriously injured."

CW’s ‘The Flash’ To Do Stand-Alone Pilot Instead Of ‘Arrow’ Backdoor Pilot Episode
EXCLUSIVE: There has been a change in the CW‘s plans for The Flash. Originally, the character, played by Grant Gustin, was supposed to appear in three episodes of Arrow this season — No. 8, No. 9 and No. 20, the last one serving as a backdoor pilot directed by David Nutter. Episodes 8 and 9, in which the superhero is introduced only as his alter ego Barry Allen, have already been shot. But now the CW has opted to film a traditional stand-alone Flash pilot instead of doing a backdoor pilot as Arrow‘s Episode 20. With Episodes 8 and 9 serving as an origin story, the plan was for The Flash character to make his debut — red costume and all — in Arrow‘s Episode 20. He will now do it in the pilot. The creative team remains the same, with Arrow co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and series scribe Geoff Johns writing the pilot and Nutter, who helmed the pilot for Arrow, directing. Berlanti, Kreisberg and Nutter executive produce, with Melissa Kellner Berman co-executive producing.

The decision was made after CW brass saw cuts of Episodes 8 and 9, which have been very well received. Filming a stand-alone Flash pilot would allow the creators to better flesh out the superhero’s story and his world on a bigger budget, as pilot budgets are significantly higher than episodic ones. While no longer a full-blown spinoff, The Flash still will be tethered to the Arrow universe since the the character (as Barry Allen) will first be introduced there. In light of the pilot order, it is unclear whether Episode 20 of Arrow will feature the Flash or any reference to him. The Arrow producers are expected to discuss their ideas for the episode with the CW this coming week.
On Arrow, Barry Allen (Gustin) is a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fanboy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.

"There comes a time when good men must wear masks." - Tonto

Arrow seems to be having a news release everyday!

Oliver Queen Finally Getting a Domino Mask in Arrow

One of the largest complaints from fans about The CW's hit series "Arrow" is that Oliver Queen doesn't wear a mask when running around Starling City. Well good news folks, the "raccoon eyes" are no more! EW has revealed that Ollie's trademark mask will be making its debut on Arrow this December and we've got the photo to prove it. Check it out below!

"Conceptually, it was something we wanted to do because Oliver himself is evolving as the Arrow– from vigilante to hero, sort of from Arrow to Green Arrow — and we wanted to see that progression in his costume as well,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “As Oliver is embracing being a hero, being a hero means stepping out of the dark and being more of a symbol, so he has to take steps to conceal his identity more.”

Kreisberg also added: “It’s going to allow the Arrow to interact with people who don’t know his identity in a much more organic way than having him constantly keep his head down."

Set to appear in the December 11th episode of "Arrow," the mask won't just appear out of thin air.

“He doesn’t just put on a mask. It’s actually a big plot point in an episode, and there really is a story behind, not only the need for the mask but also who provides him with it,” Kreiseberg said. “It’s going to be a little bit of a surprise, and once they see how the mask comes into creation, I think people will be really excited about it.”

"Arrow" airs Wednesdays at 8 P.M. ET/PT on The CW.

Another day another Arrow news release!

Arrow: Katrina Law Cast as Ra's al Ghul's Daughter

Ra's al Ghul's daughter will soon make her debut on The CW's Arrow -- and nope, we're not talking about Talia al Ghul...

TV Guide reports that Spartacus alum Katrina Law has signed on to play Nyssa al Ghul (aka Nyssa Raatko) in the superhero TV series. In the comics, it is revealed that R'as had a love child born during his travels through Russia, making Nyssa Talia's half-sister. On the show, Nysaa is described as "a powerful member of the League of Assassins who comes to Starling City in pursuit of The Canary."

Law, who played Mira in Spartacus, will first appear in the thirteenth episode of Arrow: Season 2, titled "Heir to the Demon." This will mark the third Spartcus vet to join the show, along with Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson and Cythia Addai-Robinson as Amanda Waller.

So far, the writers have been very creative weaving the tapestry of their story. Not sure how many on here ever actually read the comics, but Jean Loring, the attorney, was a supporting character of the Atom for years before she turned evil. And it's easy to see where they're going with Slade. Interesting enough, Slade Wilson and Brother Blood were both introduced in the Teen Titans series of the '80's.

Not knowing much about the DC Universe, what do you think happens with Slade? Is he going to become a villain, ala his pal Billy Wintergreen?

In the comics, he started off as a villain. DC eventually turned him into an anti-hero, sort of like Marvel's The Punisher. Not sure what they've done with the character in recent years. Slade Wilson = Deathstroke the Terminator.

Thanks for the info, I read all of the background about Deathstroke and he sounds like an awesome villain. The thing that stood out to me though, is that in the first couple of episodes, there is Deathstroke's mask on a pole with Slade's knife through it. So my question is this, is that Slade's mask, or Billy Wintergreen's?

They're playing in a new continuity so I'm not sure how to answer that. Is that the mask of Deathstroke? Yes. Was it Slade's mask? Since Wintergreen was wearing it, I'd say no, but in the comics, Wintergreen was a different character. He wasn't quite the badass depicted on the show. He was basically a sidekick to Slade, an old soldier loyal to Wilson. It's one of those differences that happens when you take a comic and make it a TV show.
