Anarchy In Portland

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse... Now Oregon looks to DECRIMINALIZE encampments and let homeless SUE for $1,000 if they're harassed or told to leave: Furious Portland residents say they're being terrorized in their own neighborhoods

Democrat lawmakers in Oregon want to decriminalize homeless camps with a law that would allow the people who live in them to sue for $1,000 if they're harassed or told to leave.

The hugely-controversial bill claims 'decriminalization of rest' would allow city leaders to 'redirect' cash from law enforcement into measures that 'address the root causes of homelessness and poverty'.

The bill you are referring to HB 3501 died. It didn't even get to the hearing level for new bills.

Problem with the pols presenting these bills, they continue to present until they get passed.

I think this type of bill in Oregon is dead. I think this might be the third time something like this has been presented and every time it gets smacked down pretty hard.

Now there's a euphemism! Frightened neighbors of Portland's new 'Safe Rest Village' for city's homeless say it has become Hotbed of Drug-Dealing and Crime

Frightened neighbors have said that one of Portland's new city-sponsored homeless villages has become a hotbed for crime and drug dealing.

Homeless people, who were previously camping out on the Peninsula Crossing Trail in Portland, were taken off the streets and introduced to the city's solution, the recently-completed Safe Rest Village.

But the new village, which houses 70 people, has caused mayhem for homeowners in the vicinity, who say it's running rampant with drug dealers, loud noises, and anti-social behavior.

Homelessness is a huge problem in a lot of areas. Not defending Portland's approach and hope for all concerned they come up with modifications to make it work.

But what is your solution to this problem?

Seems that Homelessness=Lawlessness in too many of these situations. Enforce the laws, reduce the negative situation for law abiding citizens.
And no, homelessness is not a crime, but breaking the laws are

Break up their encampments, enforce ordinances against living on the street, *****ing in the streets, shooting up in the streets, etc.

Now they're making it easier? Drug-ridden Portland to hand out aluminum foil, glass pipes and straws to Fentanyl Smokers that have already overrun the Oregon city

Portland will soon begin handing out aluminum foil and straws to fentanyl smokers in the latest attempt at 'harm reduction' in the drug-ridden Oregon city.

Officials with the Multnomah County Health Department confirmed the controversial plan to local outlets saying they will also hand out glass pipes and snorting kits.

Portland is currently dealing with both a fentanyl and overall drug epidemic on top of a homeless crisis that has been slammed by residents as 'out of control.'

The “loving them to death” continues.

What draws so many of the unhoused to municipalities like Portland, Oregon?

Or do we believe the entire population Portland is struggling to find a solution for are all native to the city?

Not if they just rid of the laws like it appears they want to in some cases. Then there's nothing to see here.

Portland woman knocked out by attacker blames city for slow police response: ‘We did this to ourselves’

A Portland doctor said a homeless man knocked her unconscious while walking in the city, and then she waited more than 20 minutes without a police response.

"I do not hold the police accountable for this at all — I hold our city accountable for defunding the police," Mary Costantino, a radiologist, told Fox News. "We don't have enough police force to protect our citizens, and we did this to ourselves."

The attack happened shortly after 10:30 Friday night. One minute, Costantino was walking in Southwest Portland with a friend. The next, she woke up on the ground, blood pouring out of her mouth. She was sure she was about to be killed and immediately dialed 911.

Portland's First Sanctioned Homeless 'park' has just NINE residents despite having room for 55 a month after it opened - as shocking images show drug-addled people taking over the sidewalks

Portland's first sanctioned homeless 'park' is less than 20 percent full a month after opening as shocking new images show drug abuse and illegal campsites continue to plague its streets.

Oregon's largest city is in the midst of a devastating humanitarian crisis, with its homeless population up almost 50 percent since 2019 to more than 5,000.

The uber-woke local government is pinning its hopes of reversing the trend on a raft of costly new shelters.

But when DailyMail.com visited earlier this month, two of its flagship sites sat largely empty, with the majority of its drug-addled homeless population preferring to remain in unsanctioned campsites across the city.

Distressing images showed rows of disheveled tents taking over the streets, while the left-behind inhabitants openly abused hard drugs on sidewalks.

Portland Shells Out Thousands For Homeless to Help Shape City's Police Disciplinary System

City says its 'houseless community' is needed to make 'systemic changes' to law enforcement oversight

Portland, Ore., shelled out thousands of taxpayer dollars to a group of homeless people to have them evaluate the city's new Police Accountability Commission after the city said that its "houseless community" should shape the way cops are disciplined.

Portland's Police Accountability Commission hired a marketing firm in June and July to hold focus groups with participants from "communities that have been historically underrepresented … or who are vulnerable to police misconduct or discrimination," according to a commission report. The city held one session at a local homeless shelter, which invited "twenty participants from the houseless community" to provide their "thoughts and ideas about the police" and the city's disciplinary policies for law enforcement officers. Each participant received a $200 gift card, meaning the city paid at least $4,000 to hold the focus group at the homeless shelter.

Nike says it's game over in Portland! Sportswear giant Permanently Shuts Down its longtime factory store after spate of Thefts

Nike has shuttered a community store in its home city of Portland after it was plagued by shoplifting in the crime-ridden woke city.

The sportwear giant confirmed it will not reopen the store in Northeast Portland in a statement issued earlier this month, almost a year after a 'temporary' closure was announced.

Nike, famed for its social justice activism, wrote to Portland's outgoing Mayor Ted Wheeler in January warning him that the shop had shuttered due to 'deteriorating public safety conditions and rapid escalation in retail theft.'

Highly-Contagious Infection Spread By Feces Breaks Out In Portland as Homeless Crisis Sparks Disease Common In Third World

A highly contagious infection that is spread through tiny particles of fecal matter has broken out in Portland - with officials warning that the homeless population are most at risk of catching the illness.

Shigella is a bacteria that spreads through human feces. People transmit the infection after getting the microbes on their hands and then touching their mouths.

People can also spread the intestinal infection through sexual intercourse.

Multnomah County in Oregon has warned that homeless people and same-sex male partners are most at risk because of their lack of access to hygienic facilities.

In the last month, 45 cases have been found in Portland, bringing the total from 2023 to 218. The influx of infections were reported among unhoused people in downtown Portland's Old Town neighborhood.
