An Important Life Lesson for "fahr" Holly fans

"The ultimate TRIAL period". OP, if you're correct the let sink in what just happened. UTAD just handed the job to an unqualified candidate with nary an interview to any other coach in the nation. After 5-6 years on the job, she is now getting a 2yr extension as a TRIAL period for her coaching ability. At the absolute highest level program in WCBB.

Let that sink in for a minute or two.

Absurd on its face for sure, but needs context. It's kind of like when Holly Defenders cite her overall record as a reason to believe. There's a rest of the story.

No question if she was Coach Jane Doe she'd have been long gone by now. But CHW is a 40 yr UTAD insider, the uber VFL, and her nary-interview hire was the wish of the dying legend. Throw in the absolute resistance to change of many LV faithful (remember the attempt to drop "Lady"?) along with general UTAD indifference to the program, especially when they're for the love of God trying to fix football. A "safe", mushy middle non-decision was inevitable, but still disappointing.

The fear underlying all that context is that at the current rate of descent, the program does not have two years to give. I guess we'll see.

Or just OOOOHNN more post intentionally misspelling the word 'fire' as 'fahr' will what, make us realize our opinion is invalid because we 'talk funny'? Our accent demonstrates an ignorant herd mentality involving torches and pitchforks? Call me a snowflake, but I find this regional profiling quite offensive every time I see it..

I regret that title. I went with the conventional joke phrasing that is often used on this board but your point is spot-on. I am originally from K-town and have an East Tennessee accent as well. I would change it but this platform does not let you change thread titles for some reason)

There is a paradox of people complaining that I am complaining about complaint post. The one that sparked this OOOOHN more post was the sill chanting one, if you love and you know it, Holly must go. I mean seriously, yet another fire Holly to do nothing more than incite a childish chant. It was so dumb; what a are folks supposed to do, post that phrase repetitively? Such pointlessly negative threads tend to be drive-by posters who want to grab their 15 minutes of "fame" (stretching the meaning of that term beyond all recognition).

So, I had a little fun with it and folks who clicked on the link got to hear a great version of a classic Rolling Stones' song. If you are going to do a musical chant, better to pick one from the rock n roll hall of fame.

Life lessons from the Rolling Stones? What's next, abstinence lessons from porn stars?

Mick Jagger's net worth is about 500 million dollars and he is still going strong at 74. And he has co-written some of the greatest rock anthems of all time He was also knighted in 2002. He's liiving a a pretty good life What is your story?

And uh, there are domains of experience where porn stars can probably give expert advice, just not abstinence.

Mostly true about ANY thread: the negative breeds easier, it just does.

After years of being a part of boards and groups, it is plain to me that folks find it really easy to let loose their fingers to express a critical opinion...especially in anonymity.

It feels clever and satisfying...

Once there's a tone of negativity established, the negative view comments can become ridiculous (bad facts, personal attacks, etc.) yet are mostly unchallenged by the masses. More positive posters are quickly jumped upon.

People write more when they're unhappy, but over time they easily allow the point of happiness to be unreachable.

So, IMO, the growing faction doesn't prove the truth of the FAHR HOLLY premise. It mostly illustrates human tendencies and the nature of message boards.

Since message boards are not truly representative of the support for the program, how about attendance, television rating, radio, merchandise sales? My guess is much of it is down significantly. Some probably more than 50%

Last I heard, TN is still the top draw on the road and 3rd at home this season. Attendance is down, but it's down nearly everywhere due in large part to TV coverage and availability/streaming.

Ticket/donation cost has also become an issue for TN. SC leads in attendance because they offer 2 season tickets for $100. At UT, those tickets would be $4,000.

If he can coach, I’d be willing to give him a shot over Holly.

Excuses? Ok, whatevs, Big Daddy. 😘

What else would you call telling 81% of the people on here that they can not think for themselves........that the "select few" hold the true wisdom......you, and the other self appointed "protectors of the program" are accepting mediocrity.....that is ALL the LV program is right now.....giving a coach that has proven, over the past 6 years, that she does not have what it takes, is "kind" that's for sure.......

Mediocre typically means average. While the results are not as great as anyone wants, TN is far above average.

There are the numbers and UT Lady Vols have one of the biggest Arenas for games, 2nd in country in attendance and it has continuously dropped in recent years and no not all programs have as that doc also shows. Also no UT would not lead in road attendance, if taken out home games they would easily be behind UCONN, USC, even MS State who respectively average road and neutral site games 7,119, 6028, 5537. And UT is 4712.

And don't give excuses on tickets being expensive, because I can still buy cheap seats in the top for literally nothing and take a team full of girls basketball players, sadly I haven't seen that as much the last few years. And also it doesn't stop UConn in pretty much filling up that crappy little bowl of theirs with very big donations for good seating. Maybe if the product paid for was worth the money it would continue with high numbers of attendance, seems to have worked for MS State.

Wait, so you think the quality of play has diminished little girls in nosebleed attendance?

You really think that if UT offered $50 lower level season tickets with no donation that LV attendance would not exceed 13,000 ?

The document shows my point that attendance has dropped overall. The increased schools are a lot of smaller programs. Mississippi State did do well, but they still just increased about 1500 after two title game/ nearly undefeated seasons. And they still average thousands LESS in attendance than the program you're criticizing for attendance.

TN shows as 4th in total home/road attendance, but they played 5 less games than the leaders. TN also played 3 games at an early season holiday tournament that would ordinarily be home games. The holiday tourney was in Mexico and had seating for a few hundred.

But hey, the sky is falling. The sky is falling! 🐔

This is Ms State we are talking about, if you arent smart enough to figure out that a raise like theirs is big dont know what else to tell you, but they dont pull many fans in any sport, YET because they are winning and at a big clip they have a raise in attendance, UTC same way, you know the little sister that beat Holly twice! Also again since you seem hard up on math, I took and removed home games because you said on the road TN was top draw on the road and as usual you are proven WRONG! I removed all home games and averaged it out for road and neutral games, it isnt the other programs fault they had more games because they got farther than UT did in the tourney, heck Iowa State plays in a large arena and only had like 12 games neutral or road. UT has a large arena, i think its 2nd or 3rd in the nation in size that a womens team plays in, so it can afford to sit 20k a game but doesnt while UConn can only fit 8k in their small place and they charge as much if not more than UT does for season tickets and have a smaller place to play in!

As far as UT lowering season ticket prices it sure would be smart for them considering they lost 2 million last year in the womens program, i will be interested to see how much they lost this year, especially due to lost attendance, which i am sure will be even lower than that which i linked too! And i am sure that there would be others that would take in the game, 13k would only happen if they brought UConn back in because there arent 13k fans that would even pay 50.00 for lower bowl seats to watch that team and the Yawnball brand of basketball they play and lack of fundamentals! I mean they seriously were trying to get people in for the Oregon State game in the National Tourney and only got 4500 to the game, thats sad as they sent emails out(or at least did to me someone who used to have season tickets) and they were low costs tickets down low that i wouldnt drive out of Chattanooga to go watch them choke again in the round of 32! To watch a team absolutely play with no fundamentals i can go watch a local church Upwards basketball game and not pay a thing! And yes there are less kids in the nosebleeds, i know as i took some teams with me years ago and i have friends that still coach girls basketball that no longer go there as they can go and see a much better coached basketball team locally at UTC. Since you are in Chatt maybe go ask Coach Foster his opinion of Holly's coaching ability, Him and other coaches laugh at the mention of it except those that love she is at UT since they play them every year!
