'13 TN Ath Jalen Reeves-Maybin (UT commit 8/10/12)

Reeves-Maybin ran for 1,468 yards and 31 TDs and passed for 1,267 and 15 TDs from his starting QB spot last fall. As an OLB on defense, he accounted for 103 tackles, 1 sack, and 10 forced fumbles.

UT and Vandy have both recently offered and he is also hearing from Duke, VT, Miss. State, Texas A&M, and GT. Reeves-Maybin thinks Duke will offer very soon as well.

He has visited UT once before last November and came away very impressed of the facilities, fans, and traditions. He states that he has no idea what position he will be playing in college because every college currently recruiting him is recruiting him as an ATH. He will be visiting UT unofficially again soon in late January for either the UConn or Auburn basketball games.

The new, full article on Reeves-Maybin is up on VQ by Paul Fortenberry.

That's ridiculous. Dude must hit hard.

I went to the same school this guy plays at, I actually live like 2 minutes away. I never thought I would see his name on this board or on VQ. I have yet to see him play in person but plan on it next season. I've read about him in the news paper and have asked some guys who are on the team about him. They say he can't throw at all, so I don't see him being a QB at the next level unless he does go APSU. The last big football name that came from this school was Travis Stephens.

Thanks for the info. Spencer Ware was a QB in HS, too. I just like having athletic guys who can play multiple positions. Sometimes they can end up being very good players. Or, sometimes, they can go Russell Shepards route.

Could be. He could just be very skilled in stripping the ball or timing when to punch the ball out. I think most players that are talented at forcing fumbles are just skilled at timing when to strip or punch the ball out more so than just purely hitting the opposing player hard.

But it most likely is a combination of both. Either way, very ridiculous stat.

To show you how time passes, this kids daddy played basketball at Northwest, when Travis was at Northeast.

I can't tell if Franklin's approach is "Let's offer everyone UT offered" or "Let's offer everyone and see who commits".

Ver y athletic. Good speed at LB. No way he gets looked at as a QB though. Wouldn't mind having on him on board as a LB.

Great athlete would be make a Great Safety imo. I love the forced fumble numbers. I like the fact he could play multiple positions as well. Would be a nice pick-up for sure.

Sweet.. Looks like a big time baller. I'd like to see another Clarksville talent shine for UT. Travis Stephens will always be one of my favorite players to suit up in orange.

I spoke with Clarksville High Alum and lifetime resident Chad McKinney tonight bout TN All-State QB Jalen Reaves-Maybin(6'2 190) NE(?) Clarksville(holds an offer from UT, Vandy, Duke, MS. State, Austin Peay right now). Chad was an All-State QB and SS for Clarksville high and can tell you bout every athlete from 6th grade to 12th in Clarksville going back 25 years. Hes a very critical guy and hard to get praise out of him anyone. He smiled really big when I asked him about Maybin.

He said Maybin is one of the best athlete to come out of Clarksville in a long long time. He said his dad was a crazy good athlete and thought Jalen was better. Just a beast of an athlete. Easily the best player on the field as a Jr.

He thought he could easily play WR, DB, or Safety in the SEC for anyone. Maybe QB in a spread offense like Vandy or West Virginia. He runs a version of the spread at his HS. He can throw, catch, run, and hit. With his height and speed, just needs to add some weight and he would be big time.

Very good student so Duke and Vandy are all over him.

Me and Chad felt like he might be a slightly faster stronger more athletic Teague. More in the mold of Randolph and Coleman if not more athletic. So hopefully we get a strong look from this instate prospect. Chad raved about him and said he was a 100% SEC athlete.

TIFWIW. Just discussion points on a UT offer.
