Butch Jones rumored to be in Tuscaloosa

Jones did not lose every SEC game last year, only the ones he coached. As for his abilities none other than Peyton Manning supported him, but what does Manning know compared to you. Jones was hamstrung by injury.

Lol. You can’t make this up.

After watching last year’s Butch Jones Volunteers team play, can we all agree that not only would Lyle have lost the last 2 SEC games as well, but he’d have lost another 10-12 straight SEC games had we played them with him on the sidelines? He’d have been 0-20 in the SEC last year had we played 20 SEC games.

The guy was 14-18 in a generally bad, down SEC during his 5 year tenure, with wins against which good SEC teams? That 9-4 2016 Florida team maybe? 0-10 vs SECw, combined 3-7 vs Georgia and Florida, 2-3 vs freaking Vanderbilt.

Manning also supported Dooley...and every other UT coach.

is supposed to join bama's staff as an offensive analyst.

does this mean we can stop paying him? pay him less?

Best case would probably be a small part of what UT is paying him will be offset. His contract mentioned assistant football coach or head coach but did not mention "analyst" so i'm not sure how that will be interpreted.

No. Whatever he makes at Bama as an analyst (probably in the $70-80k range), only serves as an offset. So, as an example, if he’s owed $2.5 million per year per his buyout contract, which he is, and he’s making $100k at Bama, we still have to pay him the remaining $2.4 million per year he’s owed.

2.4 million a year??:loco:

Iirc, Jones is owed about $8.2 million spread out over approximately 36 months, through February 2021.....that’s about $212,000 a month. $212,000 X 12 months (12 months equals a year) is $2,544,000 per year. $2,544,000 minus $100,000 is roughy $2.4 million per year....I rounded down.

What does Saban know that we don't? I think we may be potentially naive thinking this is great for us. Is he expecting to get some intel on UT? Does he really think Butch is an offensive genius. This whole scenario is very odd.

If this were a trade between us and Bama - Jones for Pruitt straight up - you'd have to say we robbed them blind.

But we also got Weinke and Blount. And if you count him indirectly, Friend. We robbed them blind, smacked their mamas, and stole their kid's lollipops.
