Tennessee opened its 2013 exhibition basketball season on Saturday afternoon with a 105-80 victory over Florida Southern at Thompson Boling Arena.

Jarnell Stokes led all scores with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan McRae finished with 21 and freshman Robert Hubbs added 17.

After missing the 2012-13 season due to injury, Jeronne Maymon contributed a nice all-around performance: eight points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Leading just 47-43 at the break, Tennessee had its way in the second half with a Florida Southern team which was fresh off a 110-88 loss in Gainesville last night. Kevin Capers scored 20 first-half points for the Mocs, but only managed four points in the second half.

With Memphis transfer Antonio Barton listed as day-to-day, freshman Darius Thompson started at point guard for Tennessee. Thompson finished with nine points and four assists.

Tennessee shot 60.7% from the field on 37-61 shooting, but turned the ball over 17 times—11 of which came in the first half.

The Vols final exhibition game will be on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Southern Indiana.
