Never had a drink in my life. That’s not impressive to me. Those that have recognized their problems and learned to control either by total sobriety or moderation have my ultimate respect. Those fuggers that come to PT formation still drunk and/or hung over but still manage to run a 13:36 two mile run can EAD. I don’t know how they do it.
I had a friend run .1 (yes, one tenth) of a mile in a trail Half before she decided her hangover was too much. This girl probably has 30 trail halfs under her belt and probably that many road halfs, and at least a few full marathons. I don’t know how much she had to drink the night before, but my guess for that to happen is that most here would’ve been drunk under the table by her.I was doing a 10k over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge way back when. The Virginia Gold Cup was the day before the race. I wasn't going to drink since I had to be up early to get over there. When the jello shots started being passed around on our chartered bus, I thought it would be fine to have a couple since it was 9am.
Woke up in my car - I did not drive - in Tysons about 45 minutes before my buddy was picking me up in Old Town. I stopped at 7/11 and got a bagel. I did not run sub 7 minute miles like your Army buddies, it was brutal.
