Denver, Arvada/Hidden Lake area. I’m here for a week with my younger daughter who had reconstructive knee surgery. Her house and her BF’s house are two stories, and she needed a place with no steps, and some mom help. So here I am! Wah wah wah.

This pic doesn’t show it (maybe it all melted today), but if you zoom in on the horizon, they still had a lot of snow.

It’s pretty freaking amazing, even if I’m sleeping on the couch. If you want to be in hipster brew pub land, it won’t work, but it’s unbelievable for chillaxin. While downing oxycodone, prescribed by your orthopedic surgeon.

I have a picture I took in fort Collins of the snow covered mountains really close. The mountain/road we came from Wyoming to Colorado on had recently been salted, because they had a snow the week we were in Idaho. This was like the 2nd week of July.

I did Outward Bound in southwest Colorado (Uncompahgre/San Juan area) in 1973 (1974??) in late July-mid-August, 24 days. We were snowed in for two days on the Continental Divide.

Those days are gone. I don’t know what the mountain west will look like in 30-50 years (won’t be around to know.)

The San Juans are beautiful. Good ice climbing in Ouray.

Spring for the Anejo next time. I keep a bottle of Don Julio Anejo in the freezer. If you can find it, try Dos Gusanos Mezcal. Anejo of course.
