Zimmerman Trial

when judge kept asking zimmeran if he was going to testify and lawyer objecting.

Well, not watching it so I don't know what the colloquy was. I know that sometimes in criminal court the judge has to hear from the defendant certain things as regards waiver of a defense or a plea, or what have you. That cannot come from the lawyer because it has to be clear on the record that it is the defendant himself stipulating to it. Otherwise, defendant can claim he wanted to do x y z, and just didn't understand his rights and his lawyer got it wrong.

But that's just a guess as to why she was asking him.

Everyone on twitter needs to tweet this:

@FBIPressOffice RT @theonlyemanny Yo @OliviaGrace18 I'm sending two black men to walk pass your house right now you silly whore you!

The guy who tweeted this is a verified singer on twitter. Never heard of him, but should be brought to attention of authorities. The person he is tweeting at was the female witness on stand.

Wonder what exactly he takes issue with.

In the re-direct by the defense, Root testified that he did not think Zimmerman was irresponsible or reckless with his gun and that he did not think Zimmerman had any other option when he used his weapon. As an expert in such situations, his testimony certainly gave the jury reasonable doubt about Zimmerman's guilt. He also stated that Zimmerman was not a fighter, that he did not have a warrior mentality. He said that some people had that mentality and some did not. The judge did not allow him to testify whether he thought that Martin had a fighter/warrior mentality, but the point must have been clear to the jury that one of them did have that mentality and one did not, with Zimmerman being the one who did not.

A neighbor who had been a victim of a burglary while she was at home testified. I thought that jurors would be very sympathetic to her. Zimmerman visited her and helped install a lock on her sliding glass door and told her that she was welcome to visit his wife. O'Mara asked if she thought Zimmerman did too much or made her uncomfortable, and she said no, that she was very appreciative.

Zimmerman's father testified that the screaming for help on the 911 recording was his son. After his testimony, the judge asked Zimmerman if there were any other witnesses that he wanted to call in his defense and then told him to discuss with his attorneys whether he would testify. He looked confused. I think he would be a terrible witness.

It was bizarre. She asked him once at start of the day if he was going to testify, then asked again after lunch. And she was asking knowing that they had more witnesses to present. I've never handled any criminal cases, but I've always thought judge will ask the Defendant after Defense has finished with their witnesses. I don't think any error, but just weird.

I honestly wish (no chance of happening) that the 6 women will go back there and immediately say, what the hell were we doing here? And then proceed back out with a verdict.

Now THAT is a burglary deterrent right there! :)

You know, thinking about it, it is possible that she had in her mind a plan to put in place regarding the gallery or security or something in case he did and maybe that was what it was about.

Could that not have been discussed with his attorney? If that was so shouldn't the attorney be aware of her reasoning?

Did the state just impeach one of their own witnesses? Someone sent me this text. I have not been able to watch the past hour.

If he's not acquitted, me and my "homies" are going to riot and loot Brooks Brothers and Jos A. Bank!

Probably but these people have been working under intense conditions for a few weeks and a marathon session yesterday. How they are not just fumbling everything right now is a miracle.

Thank God she isn't a brain surgeon, unless maybe you are her patient.

So instead of just allowing Mr. West to speak with his client as he was asking, she decides to go off on him? I think she had the perfect opportunity to correct her mistake on the go, and she got pissed off instead. I would buy that reasoning if she did that without West saying anything, but West was telling her no I need to talk to him.

One that cracked me off the most on Twitter today:

Judge Nelson:"Knock,Knock"
Don West:"Who's there?"
Judge Nelson:"Over"
Don West :"Over who ?"
Judge Nelson: " Over ruled !!" #zimmermantrial

I'm expecting last night's exchange and this afternoon's exchange to be turned into a song. Only thing that's lacking in this trial is if West said the stupidity concerning the ice cream cones was directed at the Judge and not Jeantel.
