Three goals here PJ and they have NOTHING to do with convicting GZ of anything:
1) Keep race in the forefront to keep the voter base divided. A united voter base is harder to win over than smaller pieces. That's how Barry won this time, divided the country into blacks, women, and hispanics. Blamed it all on the white man via the GOP politicians.
2) Keep this trial in the forefront as a smokescreen to hide the other issues. Supposedly there will be a federal level IRS official exposed today in relation to the targeting issue. Hasn't even made much news. Keeps Bengahzi, Egypt, and all the other F ups off the radar.
3) Gun control. Doing away with SYG laws shifts the burden in a court trial from the attacker to the victim. Without SYG, most self defense laws operate under a "what if" scenario. What if you had fled? Did you have the opportunity to run away? Did you have the opportunity to lock yourself in another room in your house? On and on and on. Without SYG, the person defending themselves has to prove their innocence instead of the attacker being tried. Once SYG is gone, this is another chink in the armor of self defense. This regime and the party that backs it doesn't have stronger self defense laws on their agenda. The harder it is to legally use a firearm in self defense, the fewer guns will be bought for that purpose.
