Someone please explain to me why on 4th and 8, running into the kicker penalty was declined by Pruitt that would have given us a first down??? (8:47 left in the 4th qtr)

Running into the kicker is a 5 yard penalty. Where roughing the kicker is a 15 yard penalty and an automatic first down.

Yes, it’s Vandy, but our pass rush was pretty darn good. I lost count of how many times he got rid of the ball. He was running for his life all game.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad for the W but if we hadn't made Vandy one dimensional then we are worse than anyone thought. We put up numbers yes and scored points yes but we were 2-9 on third downs offensively. Our offense is still not where it should be getting better but still way behind. Defensively we had 2 sacks on a small offensive line and freshman QB, one Int and still got passed on like an ugly girl at a dance. If Vandy would have had an o line to stop pressure they would have had a whole lot more passing yards. Like I said. Glad for the W but the final outcome should have been the first half score.

But we did make them one dimensional just like we made Florida. Our secondary played better but still had a couple of drives with some mistakes/ good throws by the Vandy QB. On third downs we didn’t convert as many as we made first downs on other downs. We also had more explosive plays. We were 2/10 on third down but had 24 first downs. That means we were only held to try and convert on third down on half of the first downs we made.

Our QBs combined to go 20/31 for 297 yards, 4 TD, 1 int, 1 fumble lost (Still think we got screwed on this call). We rushed for 212 yards and 5.6 per carry with a freshman at center and our backup right guard.

Not enough sacks people say. We had 2 sacks, an intentional grounding call that we forced, and a forced fumble. We also had 5 QB hurries and 5 TFL. We lived in Vandy’s backfield all night. We forced Vandy to punt or turn the ball over on 12 of their 15 drives.

Now do I think we are were we need to be in year 3, absolutely not. Were we supposed to beat Vandy handily, yes. Did we beat them handily, yes. The defense played better but still peaked in the 1st half against GA.

Play calling again hurt us on 3rd downs. Too many long developing pass plays in known passing downs. Yet we found ways to win and did so comfortably. We played a lot of young guys too. I don’t get why everyone is so down about this win since we did what we were supposed to do.
