Zac Rogers appreciation thread

ZR ran that 10.7 time his junior year in highschool, he played baseball his senior year. I would say he would have a much better time if he had stuck with track the way CP did through juco.

It's conjecture of course but I find that reasonable. I (very much) don't think he would have ever been a sub-10.6 guy however, which CP is and was the point I was making.

Knocking 2 tenths off a time in a 5 year span would be very easy, remember, Zach hasn't run track since his junior year in high school.

For example, just look at Jeff Demps. He ran a 10.37 his senior year, not his junior, and now his personal best is in the 9.9's.

And Jeff Demps is a guy with Olympic genetics.

Look, don't overthink this. ZR is and has been faster than a lot of people have given him credit for. I've taken up for ZR on that point several times in the past. Having said that he is NOT pushing CP as a matter of pure speed and never will. ZR's fast, CP's faster. (So is Q Watson)

It not unreasonable to think that Zach could knock .2 off his best time if he was working on it. Pure speed, I think he's right there with CP. Quickness and acceleration is where CP is head an shoulders above the rest.

I do not for one second think that, as fast as I know ZR to be, he's a legit threat to go 10.5* Sorry, there's nothing I've seen to make me believe that. I know CP can, and has, more than once. If you wish to believe otherwise, so be it. :hi:

*Technically CP's fastest 100m is a 10.33 but considering how much of an outlier that is from his other times that was almost certainly wind-aided.

Hunter and CP have had some really ugly drops. No one has ever blasted them the way they have Zach over the years. I think some of it comes from baggage left over by Austin.

I think Zach's play and knowledge of the position will get him drafted. He's worked hard for it and deserves all the accolades.

Agree completely. I loathed Austin Rogers, and as soon as I saw Zach drop his first pass, I loathed him just as I did Austin. Fortunately, Zach has actually improved significantly over his Vol career, where as Austin did not. Can't wait to watch Zach play on Sundays.
