"Youth" is an excuse? Child, please.

A team of 4 year olds against 5 year olds basically every time we line up.

I was and am a Dooley fan. But, the coaching on Saturday flat out sucked. Wanna know why we have like 1 interception all season? Because we don't Blitz... Not once on Saturday did Wilcox bring the heat. No wonder we got torched for two big plays, Murray had a month to sit back there and throw the ball. Piss Poor coaching.

Let's look at offense too. Why in the world did we try to run the ball on 1st down so many times when we kept losing yardage? I mean really, I thought I was back in the Fulmer era watching his traditional #$@% up against FL. Do they not get it? If something isn't working, by all means try something else!

For the benefit of the doubt, I'll give Dooley and staff the Youth excuse for 1 or 2 more years. Then if we don't see obvious improvement in scheming and execution, then the naysayers are justified in calling him our version of Mike Shula...

For me, I'll wait. Hell, I've been waiting for a good UT team for the better part of a decade. But they better damn well hurry 'cause I'm not getting any younger...

the shallowness of this argument is about as dumb as the dude in your avatar looks....there are many other variables that come into play

The first variable that comes to my mind is who the 17 are?
Let's take a look....

1. Darryl Vareen
2. Tauren Poole
3. Dallas Thomas
4. Malik Jackson
5. Marsalis Teague
6. Matt simms

10. Austin Johnson

Oh, nevermind, this damn Iphone! Guess my point is that we don't have a lot of upperclassmen who are "difference makers"!!

Correlation between upperclassmen playing and SRS ranking - 0.3998230150614766

(Yes, I did run a correlation analysis)

Overall, a pretty moderate correlation for football stats. I'd bet the correlation would be higher if you took into account talent level.

WOW so awesome to see it layed out like that....wonder what those numbers would look like if just the seniors left each program. I bet we would make a HUGE jump.

Not sure about the other programs, but I was talking to a Florida fan last week that was saying how young they were, so I got curious and looked it up for LSU.

I believe LSU has 13 seniors on the 2-deep roster, and 20 seniors total.

I'm no statistician but I'd imagine if you look at those with less than some number, say 20, the correlation would grow. If on average teams have x percent but team y has 40% less it would seem to me team y would be handicapped because they are an outlier.

FTR stats are for losers.

I would bet there is a fairly even distribution among the classes for the bamas and lsus. I would expect 10-12 Seniors, 10-12 Juniors and the rest RS Sophs and below. We're something like 9 seniors (including Guess and Rhome), 9 juniors, 15 true Sophomores and 15 true freshmen. Most of our upper classmen and starting sophomores are backed up by a freshman. I just scanned the game notes and listed on the lsu 2 deep are over 20 seniors, a dozen juniors, well over 20 sophomores (most are listed in the 2 spot) and less than 10 freshmen. Whether we like it or not, the meat of our team is closer to high school than grad school.

Oh well, it is what it is, time to get some scars boys, give some while you're at it!

You're telling OP that the dude in his avatar looks dumb? Have you realized what you've put up there, yourself, "pard?"

Go ahead, tell me the guy in my avatar looks dumb. I dare you.

I'm stealing this data from VQ. This is the number of upperclassmen(RS Sophomores and up) in each SEC team's 2 deep.

Florida - 26
Georgia - 27
Auburn - 21
South Carolina - 27
Alabama - 30
Ole Miss - 24
Miss State - 28
Kentucky - 25
Vanderbilt - 24
Arkansas - 31
LSU - 29
Tennessee - 17[/B
]Do you notice that almost without exception that number directly correlates to the strength of the teams? But pretty much all the bad teams have less than 26. It is almost as if players actually get better the longer they are in a system and teams that depend on a lot of young players tend to struggle. Imagine that.
