You're not being honest with yourself

It's the same old excuses every year. Just go back and watch the Florida game. When it came down to crunch time, watch how unorganized Butch and his staff looks on the sideline. Then look at Jim McClain and the Gator sideline, at how calm they were on that situation. If that doesn't tell people that Butch is in way over his head, I don't know what will. The sad part is, Butch keeps doing the same damn thing every game. It's really mind boggling that Butch and his staff, can not make any adjustments at the half.

... if you woke up this morning blaming the coaching only. Players gotta make plays. This team doesn't tackle, can't catch a pass that hits 'em in the hands, can't throw down field and hit a target, can't contain a QB. The TEAM got whipped last light.

There are some noticeable exceptions: Hurd, Kamara, Smith, R-M and ST.

I don't know the way forward from here but I do know I AM A VOL FAN AND WILL CONTINUE TO PROUDLY WEAR ORANGE AND SUPPORT THE TEAMS even during these terrible years.

It is year 3. He's had time to recruit and develop players who can tackle, catch passes, block, etc. No one asked for perfection. But what we're witnessing is an unacceptable level of both coaching and play.

And Jones is right... he's responsible for all of it. He chose the assistants. He chose the system. He chose most of the players. He chose how they were to be developed. He chose to push many of the players he inherited out of the program.

In short, he owns it.

Dude forget the "its the players fault" message. I'm with you BTW that its a confluence of errors that got us here: including coaches and players.

But you will always get the "well, they did not coach'em up right" easy out crappy answer to always blame coaches.

Last night these guys got whipped physically. Both sides of the ball. In our other 2 losses, we could not execute on around 20 plays of which any of them would have iced a game. I mean you give your players 20 chances to win a game. I mean should we not give credit for providing so many chances to win right along with the times where they mismanaged and took a chance away? You just cannot have it both ways.

This team should be 4-1 with Arky giving us a legit punch in the mouth. WE are STILL THAT TEAM who I think can go 7-5, win a bowl game, and yes, dare I say it, progress along the way. Anyone with half a brain new 2016 was the year. We are just guilty, me included, of drinking too much hype koolaid in the offseason.

Did I mention we lost our best D player? Most of best WR's? Maybe our best O-lineman? Two starting DB's?

IMO this is just one of those unexplainable seasons where karma and confluence come together to make an ugly elixir. I still think CBJ is the guy with 2016 being at least my measuring stick.

Exactly right. Very next post right after: "It's the coaches fault for not developing talent"

I blame Azzani (WR coach)- We haven't had a dominant WR in years and they can't seem to catch the ball or get open consistently.
Stripling- (OL Coach)- The OL has been dominated for 2 years sooner or later you turn the corner.
Debord (OC)-- Poor play calling and Dobbs has regressed with throwing.

Simple thing would be to remove the whole O side of the ball bar RB coach and get an OL coach (make our OL mean, nasty and dominant), WR coach (who can turn those 4 & 5* WR into dominant NFL type WR) and a young innovative OC that can call a mix of play call that create mismatches and big plays.

Florida seems to be doing just fine. They're also just as young as we are. The youth BS is getting old. By year 3 you should see at least some signs that things are going to get better. We're losing close games and depth plays a part. We also wasted too many offensive possessions last night against a team that controls the ball for long periods of time..

Last week it was the defense, this week it was the offense. What that says is we're just not a very good team..

Butch Jones is our Muschamp.

exactly. Florida also runs a better system. The WRs they do have actually run routes and they complete passes with a worse OL situation than we have. Its such a joke whats going on here right now.

Even D2 offenses can run pass plays to their receivers against D1 competition. It seems to be a major undertaking for us to complete a pass play. I am wondering if we complete any in practice against the 2nd team defense?

So, what team are you a fan of?

Mahoney coaches OL

Stripling coaches DL

Weak troll attempt

The talent is freshman and a couple sophmores! The upperclass talent is atrocious and that's not on butch. If you don't see a difference your blind.

The Legend Lives On! And you are right. Kahlil and Shy outplayed Vickers and O'Brien. What hapoened to Brian Randolph? Williams, Phillips and Kirkland are the future. As sthletic as they are, it is difficult to plug them in to schemes and have instant impact outside that raw athleticism. They will develop.

Despite what happened in Florida and his being a jerk, dude is a great defensive coach who recruited well. McElwain has more talent in his roster than M's detractors gave him credit for

Coaches are supposed to develop talent, that's the missing piece.

Well when 75 percent of the players that are playing are freshmen and sophomores the development isn't close to being done. Dobbs I believe is the exception I just think he's not any good and if wasn't true freshen behind him he wouldn't be starting. I mean I'm not happy about losing anymore than anybody else but when I look at the line up man its crazy to see that a lot of these players haven't been here long. Hell I don't know what the answer is!
