This will forever change how he is treated and perceived by his childhood and hometown school. This is just someone taking the easy path and taking the turncoat route.

He will forever be known as Benedict Cade.

Give it up, guys. The kid has the right to choose and to make a mistake. No matter their or our coach, we've historically fared well versus the Dawgs. This announcement doesn't change that fact.

Let's simply kick his tail the next three years.

I like what Coach Pruitt is building and already developing: tougher attitudes.

Go Vols!

I agree. Put a huge shiny bullseye on his back. Hang the turncoats picture in the locker room. Remind the team what a traitor looks like.

Benedict Cade

Yeah, something happened to make him decide he wanted to be a dawg and not a Vol. So he's a dawg from now and forever more. He's not a Vol in any way, shape or form, just another foe. We close ranks and move on without him. And, God willing, we make him regret missing-out on all of the great things to come in Knoxville.

I hope we do just that! Ga is Underacheiver U, so hopefully they’ll continue to carry that banner! Something at Knox catholic must turn players against the Vols. Seems like May’s mother also steered him elsewhere. Happy trails going to Athens 6-7 Times/year for the next 4!

Meh... Niedermeyer is a Bammer. As if him and Pruitt care about UT lmao. We are just a stepping stone for them.

Oh come on, I hate this line of thinking. Name me one qualified VFL that we should have offered the job to. Tee isn't qualified and doesn't have the experience and the only other Vol who should have maybe gotten the job (Cut) said no.

I want to like it, and get fired up. That's the competitor in me.

But I think it's a little bit tacky.

Cringeworthy.

At the end of the day it's 17-18 year old kids playing a game while going to school. Moments like these bring out the crazies who obsess over this a bit too much.

Kinda reminds me of a Kentucky fan posting in a Vols Football Forum.....some weird stuff.

Heard an interview with Brent Lawless today. He's what it means to be All-Vol. Said he never even considered another school during all the coaching mess because he loved Tennessee and didn't care about the coaches. He said that Pruitt tried to recruit him to Alabama during the season and he wouldn't even take Pruitt's phone calls, because he doesn't like Alabama and was a Tennessee guy from day one.

If only certain others were as honorable as Brent, who will be my favorite Vol from this class because of that. The other "legacy" guys who want to be a legacy somewhere else are not worthy of mention any longer. Just another bunch of sellouts.

I couldn't agree more. All this "I want to win championship" talk is just garbage. Everybody wants to win championships. He took the easy way out, plain and simple.

PS: GA has only won one championship and even ding dong beat them 2 out of the last 3 years.

And Cut actually graduated from Alabama. :)

There’s no one who believes more strongly that me that this is only football but for a kid like Mays it truly will affect his entire life for the rest of his life. I’m sure he gave a lot of consideration for the decision and is well aware all the things you stated above. But you are taking a huge risk in situation like this not only picking another school but going to a hated rival like Georgia. He has been around UT football enough to know that his decision was not only going to create a tremendous amount of backlash but also put his parents in a very awkward situation moving forward. Having said all that ...I think it is time to move on and allow him to do whatever he needs to do to be successful ....just not at UTs expense...I hope we beat the doors off of Georgia every year but it’s certainly not because Cade Mays is playing football there. I feel sorry for his family and let NO ONE harass them...it’s not their fault!

This is just common sense you can’t say you love the Vols and then wind up signing with Georgia.... that just doesn’t make sense... not mad at Cade ....wish him the best ...but this whole thing has been odd at best... you say you sign with Georgia to win national championships yet you were committed to Tennessee for over a year.... that just doesn’t make any sense....

Sure it does. He is obviously a follower of D4H. It tracks perfectly to his predictions of UT national championships in 2016 and 2017, then oops, not until 2020. With GA winning this year and the 2019 national championship, it makes perfect sense.

And you thought these predictions were of no consequence!

Bandwagon all the way! You got a team that's hot this year but I'm not sold on their coaching. They will be good for awhile because of their recruiting success this year but I don't think they'll ever win the national championship. I think Cade Mays could have made a huge difference here for us. Unfortunate that he's not that confident in his own ability. My gosh he went to play for the Georgia Bulldogs!!! How can you get anymore anti-Vol than that. Would have been the same if he had went to FL or Alabama. Georgia is one of our biggest hurdles to getting to the SEC championship game and he is committing his life to helping them for the next 4 or 5 years. Unbelievable!!!! Disappointing!!!!

I can understand Amari and Tee much more than Mays' move. When they went to Clemson most of ours receiver were a non-factor even though we had some talent there. Was still disappointed because of the talent we lost but it wasn't an SEC rival and it really kind of made sense for them.

Why don't we just admit we lost Mays because we suck? We "might" compete for the SEC East in what would be Cade's senior year or 4 years from now. He and his family know this and he wanted to go where he can compete for national titles before he graduates. You are a fool if you refuse to see what Kirby Smart is building right now, all in his 2nd year as a HC. UGA's Revenge Tour is 2 games away from winning a national championship with a freshman QB. They are SEC Champions and quite frankly, everyone else is in their rear view mirror. Meanwhile we can't even beat our big brother in Nashville. Yet another HC and another plan and another rebuild. Do you have the time and patience it is going to take to get back to being competitive in Knoxville? Go Vols.

I heard during a Ga game that they are losing 31 seniors. Add to that a few JRs who will probably declare for the draft (obviously Smith will). We will see just how good Smart is next year. Maybe we will be fools next year, but a little premature to crown him the next coming of Saban.
