Is Zelda really an RPG? A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game, but it's not an RPG, really.

I'm a big fan of the Mass Effect games. I dig Skyrim and Oblivion, too.

I'm a really huge fan of the Breath of Fire and Golden Sun games.

I can't rank games on a scale of 10 because it depends on my mood which I like better.

That is one of the biggest RPG debate's ever. "Is Zelda a true RPG?"

IMO it is, but one could argue that it's not.

I think technically its an Action/RPG, but w/e.

Wasn't a big fan of Oblivion, the story was Blah and running up the same towers over and over just got grinding. Morrowind and Skyrim are great games. I can't wait for the ESO.

Mass Effect is truly a great game, I loved Mass Effect 3, but the ending ruined it for me.

I've heard great things about breath of fire. I need to check it out.

Diablo, namely the first one. Morrowind consumed my life for a long time, also.

I never was a big fan of the true RPGs, but I like how more and more games are starting to incorporate RPG elements into their games (skill trees, side quests, leveling, etc...).

Mass Effect is an amazing game. Only played the first two. I was pretty discouraged about the ending of the third one. I was never a fan of Oblivion/Skyrim. Although I did play a lot of Skyrim. But even what I thought was a lot wasn't even halfway through the game. It's a good game, but I just got tired of going into dungeons and fighting skeletons every damn mission.

Also I think Far Cry 3 is has the potential to be an amazing game, but having to turn on all the watch towers and clean out enemy pirate camps felt incredibly repetitive as well. I loved the storyline though.

Yeah, it's the main quest in Skyrim was kinda blah for me also....I got a lot more enjoyment out of exploring and the side quest. Never really got into Far Cry I'm a more castles/dragons/swords fan.

I'm a little more old school, with a very Final Fantasy-heavy roster.

1. Final Fantasy Tactics
2. Final Fantasy 7
3. Xenogears
4. Ocarina of Time (if we're going to say Zelda games are RPG's)
5. Final Fantasy 10
6. KOTOR 2
7. Super Mario RPG (I know it sounds lame but trust me, it was surprisingly fantastic)
8. Final Fantasy 8
9. Breath of Fire 3
10. Final Fantasy 13 (solely for the battle system, the storyline was gibberish and the game didnt get good until the world opened up 2 chapters before the game was over)

Edit: I see Mario RPG was already mentioned lol. Loved that game.

3. KOTOR
4. Final Fantasy VI
5. Chrono Trigger
6. Fallout: New Vegas
7. Skyrim
8. Earthbound
9. Mass Effect 1
10. KOTOR 2

If we're counting Zelda than OoT and Majora's Mask are somewhere in there.

Far Cry 3 is one of the best games this gen. Just not sure if I'd consider it an RPG. Nothing was more awesome than unleashing bears and tigers on the pirate outposts.

It could have been so much more than it was - lots of wasted potential in my opinion.

Followed the same recipe as the Assassins Creed series: good main story line with a slew of repetitive side quests that get old almost immediately.

this is an FPS - with RPG elements - not the other way around.

Star Tropics
Dragon Warrior

I used to wear out some Dragon Warrior. One of the few games i've actually "beaten".

For whatever reason my 9 year old self enjoyed spending hours on end wandering around the desert killing gold golems.

What was your strategy when attacking the pirate camps?

Going back and getting undetectable bonus on the hardest difficulty on each pirate outpost was how I got a lot of replayability on FC3. Recurve bow and silent takedowns FTW.

For some reason I thought this thread was about Rocket Propelled Grenades.

Carry on my wayward sons.

GTA is rpg?? :ermm:

I think San Andreas had the most RPG qualities among them all. The ability to change your clothes, physique, and enhance strength and stamina really made San Andreas one of my favorite games ever. In GTA there was little you could actually do with Mr. Serbia
