Since there is so much division in this forum and America, list what would be the attributes that you would want to see in a presidential candidate. Mine are as follows

Pro-LE but not overtly kiss ass. Dont like holster sniffers. Respect someone who has the guts to stand up for and stand up to LE when needed

Pro-2nd Amendment but not Constitutional carry. Nothing says you're a wanna be para-military like trying to open carry your AR in Walmart.

Semi-Religious- Not overtly Joel Olsteen faith healer crazy religious. Someone who respects religious freedom without bowing to every whim of evangelicals.

Pro-military without being a war monger. Understand military intervention is a last resort but once engaged is a means to an end. No ***** footing around

Pro-choice but not feminist crazy. Stipulating only when involving rapes or other necessary medical reasons to prevent the death of the mother. No Saturday night, forgot to pull out, mistake erasers. Also believes that since feminists believe the government should stay out of the vagina, so will government money. No tax funded abortions.

Strong on immigration. No more coming across the border illegally and living off the taxpayer.

Stronger supporter of States Rights and a small central government. Let the states decide more on how to govern themselves. Leave issues like weed, guns, marriage, bathrooms, etc. to the States.

Strong Constitutionalist. No living document BS.

I know I missed some

Whats yours?

I'm along the same lines. I would add a strong background in economics, fiscally conservative, absorb some short term pain to get our debt down and reform entitlement programs and eliminate programs that overlap.

Mine are as follows:

Pro-LE with massive amounts of training to protect officers and civilians.

Pro-2nd Amendment, but folks don't need a rocket launcher.

Non-Religious- If I wanted to live in a religious state I'd move to Saudi Arabia. Keep it private and in your churches.

Pro-military without being a war monger. Understand military intervention is a last resort but once engaged is a means to an end. No ***** footing around. (I agree.)

Pro-choice. Period.

Open borders with fair requirements to stay in the country.

Stronger supporter of Federal Rights. Some things left to the States, but overriding powers when those states obstruct equal rights.

Strong Constitutionalist. It is a living document. Worthy of debate.

A practical (vs ideological) Libertarian with executive business experience, some sort of connection to the military (either served, comes from a family that served, or current family that serves), and a gregarious personality that could easily get along with both sides of the aisle in Congress and the world stage.

Single issues are wayyyyyyy overrated.

I would imagine most of our early POTI would be considered radical libertarians by today's standards.

Pro-LE with incentives to municipalities and individual officers to promote community trust and input. Strong programs to protect people in minority communities who want to work with police to reduce crime. Strong after school programs in those communities, working with police, to promote long term good relations and make it easier for single parents to work.

Realistic on 2nd Amendment, willing to stand up to NRA when they tout their irrational slippery slope arguments. Ties gun sales to adequate training and safe-keeping. Realizes the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, so people have to be allowed to protect themselves, but that life is not a 1950s western.

Non-Religious- But embraces religious efforts to help the homeless and the poor, improve communities. Basically promote those that do good works, regardless of affiliation.

Pro-military. Views boots on the ground as almost certainly causing disaster.

On abortion, keep the status quo for now. It's too much of a distraction at the moment.

Open borders with fair requirements to stay in the country.

Views state right claims skeptically, as they are almost always a subterfuge for an end run around 14th amendment rights. Do not be afraid to call out members of either party when doing so.

Realizes you can adhere to Constitutional principles without pretending that literal readings are absolute. Presumption is original language, exactly, but not rigid when circumstances warrant a more subtle approach.

Middle class tax breaks.

Moratorium on new exemptions or deductions.

Above all else, intellectually honest. Admits shortcomings in himself or his ideas. Does not mind being proven wrong and respects and listens to dissent.

On that last one, the opposite of the egomaniac currently in office.

I think this is an excellent thread idea!

Pro-Patriotism & Nationalism.

Pro-LE.

Pro-Military.

Pro-2nd Amendment.

Religious Christian, but not one to obnoxiously shove it down others' throats.

Pro-Life, abortion only legal until 12-16 weeks but with excepetions for rape, incest, and life of the mother later on.

Anti-Corporate taxes. (Cut corporate & business taxes to 0.)

Pro-Progressive Income & Sales taxes. (Raise taxes on higher incomes and investments and also tax consumption to tap into the underground economy.)

Pro-Education.

Pro-Environmentalism. (Anti-Climate Change)

Pro-Same Sex marriage, but also won't force a business to bake a cake for such a wedding.

Anti-Transgenderism.

Anti-Illegal Immigration.

Pro-Welfare reform. (Install stronger requirements and limits.)

Pro-Universal healthcare. (Single-Payer system)

Anti-Social Justice Warrior nonsense.

Anti-Feminist.

Pro-Farmer.

Pro-Traditional Values, Culture, and Morals.

Pro-States Rights.

Sadly, I cut across large swaths of both ideologies and no president will ever hold closely to my views.

On mobile so I may miss some of the formatting / order.

LE, religion, education, most all social / sexual / lifestyle choices need to be left to the states. Gay marriage is allowed, but the cake doesn't have to be made. If locals don't like it, patronize a competitor who does.

Abortion. Needs to be a state by state issue. If I were a state rep for TN, I believe you should protect the life of two when pregnant. You have the freedom of your body when having consensual sex. The unborn should be allowed to have whatever life they choose. Unconsentual, state discussion. Privately funded.

Eerily close to non-intervention. If we are intervening by foreign request or domestic choice, we get a declaration from congress, we get in, as efficiently (both dollars and lives) and we get out. Foreign aid, initially, would be completely frozen. We need to reevaluate whose getting millions of dollars and where it's going. We are making richer leaders of poor counties....while our own still starve.

Border: close it off, use / incentivize local guards and LE willing to do short shifts (few weeks) while we get this fixed. Easier process without exceptions. Anyone currently here who gets arrested for violent / possession goes back.

Gun laws, left to the states and their own people. Some may want open carry, some may want to sell every gun they own for $250 a pop. I don't care. Let the people and their local officials figure it out. In my state, I would be a proponent of open carry, small mags, with background check. Lax but fair. DUI, drugs, violence type screening.

Religion. I want it wherever locals want it. Personally, I'd rather have none in schools (curicullum) rather than selective / bias of any specific teachings.

Welfare: Id rather "go in the hole" with spending via work incentive programs / bonus / tax breaks rather than the mess we have with entitlements. The moment one healthy / able person legit goes hungry, and their handouts cut them off, the change will start. Workers need the benefits. Obviously their are always those in legit need, and we could give them even more if we didn't allow such abuse and waste.

Education: Please, please have a savant come along and help revitalize our education at primary and secondary levels. We are still conducting the k-12+ process like its the 50's, the only additions are bull**** social agendas that don't belong anywhere near influential youth. Civics / economics needing to be a huge core.

***Above all, I want one President to leave office with 5-10% less deficit for his / her country and their people. It's going to be hard and the corrections are going to hurt, but we need to stop the spending. I think the lack of federal fiscal responsibility is the root of damn near every problem we have here at home.

*encorages legislation* that caps presidential campaign funnding to $30m maximum, individual (persons) donations only, max $10,000, total % increase every 8 years, maybe 2-3%

My perfect candidate wouldn't stand a chance getting elected and if he did congress would probably oppose him at every turn.

Around 6 ft 2, dark hair and eyes, sensitive but strong, makes me laugh, smart, loves his family, enjoys the outdoors, enjoys clubbing but at the same time is just as comfortable on the couch watching a movie on a rainy Sunday, like dogs, small children, and the elderly
