Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

It still sucks. The Grizz needed that game. Conley isn't the only player banged up. 5 days of rest would have been huge before the Warriors series. Playoffs are a battle of attrition and Portland is forcing us to expend more resources to put them away, weakening us for a 2nd round opponent who is already resting/practicing/scouting. It's not exactly payback, but it's something for them to hang their hat on when we send them packing on Wednesday.

I'm hoping that having over a week off for the Warriors will somehow disrupt their offensive rhythm just long enough for us to snag home-court in Game 1. Given how well they maintained it for an entire season, it's a long shot.

But we do need the rest even more now that Conley is out. Without him, we need the rest of the team to be as healthy as possible. I've got my fingers crossed that after the surgery they determine that it's something he can play through. On the plus side, at least the rest of his body is resting and healing until he's back, so if he does make it back this postseason his ankles/knees/etc will be rested.

This series isn't over..

Yeah... I mean... we know...

but it kinda is.

Conley or no Conley, I don't see Portland winning 4 in a row over the Grizz. I see no reason to talk about that scenario, though. I would rather focus more on whether or not we even stand a chance moving forward. I'm not entertaining the thought that we're losing a 3 game lead in the first round.

In the unlikely event we do lose the series, is there any precedent for that? I don't want the Grizz to be a part of history.

I would be more worried if we had won 3 competitive games like our WCF series with SA or First Round with the Floppers a couple years back.

But we've been dominant, even for the majority of the game last night.

We'll be fine. But Golden State is a near impossibility without a full roster, IMO.

I'll clear that up for you then.. Without a close to 100% Conley we have a 0% chance against GS.

If we don't win G5, we re in trouble. Sounds like the pressure is on us.

Each passing game without Mike, our confidence fades and theirs grows.

Why so ornery, T-bro?

Didn't mean to come across as such. In the post I didn't quote regarding what you would (GSW) and wouldn't like to discuss (Portland)

I was just adding my input that GSW isn't worth discussing until we see Conley. We can't contain CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard without him---there's no shot we do anything with Curry and Thompson.

Offense goes through dry spells. Stagnates. Defense is bad. He's an impactful player on both sides, he controls the pace of the game and the touches, and he is the leader.

This series isn't over

Well I definitely agree that without Conley our playoffs are done. It may not end in this round, but we're not escaping Round 2 without him.

Nothing revolutionary, but Chris Broussard said on ESPN no timetable for Conley's return. He went on to say Grizz do expect him back at some point, and it's "not outside the realm of possibility" he could be back this weekend for the Second Round.

He said the team/doctors hope to talk to him today about when he could be back with the team according to Mike's father.
