Where is coaching on this list?

QB: A- Ainge is well on his way to being something really special. If this season continues the way it is and he can stay healthy, he may find himself in the 1st round of the NFL draft.

RB: B Foster is shutting his doubters up. Lennon Creer is going to be a 1000 yard rusher. Coker showed to be a bit rusty.

WR: B- Lucas Taylor might just be good. Austin Rogers is steady. We still need another playmaker. Josh Briscoe is terrible. We need more depth and someone has to step up sooner rather than later.

O-Line: B+ Ainge was clean, we ran the ball well and their confidence should be high going into the Florida game. They very well could determine the outcome of that game. I think they could play well enough for us to literally pound Florida into submission on the ground if the defense can just not suck.

D-Line: C Didn't see anything great, although they got a slightly better push. Nothing exciting, but Dan Williams looked solid.

LB: B- Rico shows so much potential to be a stud, yet almost ruins it by his lapses. Good to see Ryan Karl make a tackle, but Jerod Mayo wasn't around the ball like he should have been.

DB: C- Why did Johnson stop running on that long TD? He was more worried about blaming someone else than he was chasing the defender. Idiot. That's why Berry needs to stay at corner full time. Stop screwing around. They clamped down in the 2nd half though, and tackled much better.

ST: B+ Daniel Lincoln has been a pleasant surprise. Return coverage was decent and the return game has potential. We need Colquitt 100% healthy.

Coaching: B- Still a few too many moronic play calls. Still didn't get any reps to the young guys. What's with the idiotic play with Crompton? Stop making things obvious please. Don't bring in guys like Crompton and O'Neal and go to them automatically. It's fairly obvious.

Overall: B

Showed improvement albeit against a worse team. They came out trying to go downfield early, yet still abandoned the run early on when they shouldn't have. Cutcliffe still called too many dumb shotgun, short routes on 3rd and short, but took more shots down field and called the right run plays at the right time in the 2nd half. The defense played very well after the 1st quarter and that's a positive sign. They aren't where they need to be yet, but improvement is improvement.
I take offense to you calling Marsalous Johnson an idiot. He is still learning.I suppose you could do a lot better. That's just absolute classless you calling him a name and for sure falls underneath Volnations standards.

I'll pass on the grading right now. At halftime the whole R section wanted to tell Mike Hamilton we wanted our money back. But they need to put Briscoe on the pine. That boy can't catch a cold.

Taylor and Rogers have been pleasant surprises. Now if they could just break a tackle...
"I think they are playing better than everyone thought. I knew they were not gamebreakers or five-star kids, but when you say hike you are going to get their very best and that is all you can ask for," wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor said. "Perfect alignment, perfect assignment and unbelievable effort and they give that every play. If you try to find a play and give them a minus for effort and I promise you will have a hard time finding one."
Pretty good assessment by Trooper
Briscoe drives me insane. He is terrible. There has to be a better 3rd receiver somewhere on the bench...maybe even somewhere in the stands... All we heard about this offseason was O'Neal, Vinson, Jones, Moore, etc.. Its about time one of these guys steps up and replaces Briscoe :clapping:

Wondering about the DL grades? The first guy gave them a poor grade and it seems like the rest of you just kind of followed suit. I see here in the last few that the grade for DL is getting better. Why so many C- to C+? I realize they were very poor in the first game. But, this game was a different story. Did you see the So. Miss running totals, not impressive. The sacks, QB hurries? Ayers finally started to play up to potential (even if at this point it is only one game). Williams is just flat out solid. I think the coaches were weary of playing him because he wasnt a big-time recruit or something. He is our best DT right now and I thought he got good push and disrupted the inside running game. Bolden played another solid game. I want to see some highlights from him though.

DL grade= B (and hopefully on its way up, Walker and Martin should start contributing at DE here soon)

where the hell is Hardesty by the way

I think Creer and Coker got his carries for S Miss game, but I think we will see him with the ball this week. I am not saying CPF was saving him for UF, but one might think so. Arian's injuries are in the back of Fulmer's head. With one AF injury Hardesty goes #2 and Coker & Creer got some carries under their belts last week. Neither did anything...Creer needs stick'um gloves and Coker needs to stop smokin out before the games.

QB- A
RB- B
WR- C+
TE- B
OL- B
DL- D+
LB- C+
DB- C-

QB- Ainge is the man. No complaints.

RB- Foster looked good. Hardesty again runs like he is wearing bliners.

WR- Some good catches, but still too many drops.

DL- sorry but I'm not going to give them a bunch of praise. They were largely non-existant in the first half. Better in the 2nd half, but still I'm waiting to see them be convincing.

LB- better but still too many missed tackles. Still saw too many "big hit" attempts instead of wrapping up.

DB- I just wasn't impressed. Long td and gave up a bunch of completions to a qb that isn't even a good passer.

And remember this is Southern Miss. This isn't a dominating team. We should have looked a lot better in every area compared to Cal and we didn't.

Southern Miss was receiving votes in both Polls and is a consensus pick to win the CUSA. Not a top 10 team by any means, but a very good non-conference opponent. They'll probably end up in the top 25 by season's end.

The Crompton call was Crompton's fault. He had enough blocking to get the few yards he needed, but he went outside to try and run over two guys. He needs to realize he isn't Tebow and he can't run over people, follow your blocking young man.

You can't blame that on Crompton. He was getting hit 2 yards deep in the backfield.
