Your first trip to Neyland??

2006 Cal my Dad surprised me with tickets, and the sights and sounds of the pre game atmosphere was electric you could hear Rocky top everywhere, then Vol Walk happened, seen my favorite vol receiver of all time Robert Meachem gave him a low five. Then Trooper Taylor stopped some of the players i believe and got EVERYONE hype he high fived me with force! Was a great experience.

Clemson was my second game. Hawaii was the first, 1972. I remember Hawaii scored on a safety. Later in the game, Hawaii was backed up deep, and the Vols were putting it on them pretty good. The defense stopped their ball carrier, then several defenders picked up the ball carrier OVER THEIR HEADS, and walked him back in the end zone and dropped him.

I was at that game. I was tinkering with photography and moving around the stadium. I jockeyed my way to the south end zone at the foot of the steps and took some pictures of that play. Here you can see Holloway running towards the pressbox side and Sievers too. Later Sievers changed direction and Holloway hit him in the corner of the end zone right below me.

Couple more shots from that game.

Note: This next one looks like a touchdown. I found a youtube replay and looked for it and realized he was just fielding a punt.

I guess we were late to the game. Took this picture of the stadium as we approached. I feel old. Stadium barely resembles itself

My first trip to Neyland was against Georgia Tech according to my dad. I don't remember it. Too young i guess.

But the first game at Neyland i do remember, it was against Pitt. Willie Gault ran a kick back for TD. pretty sure we lost though.

1980. That was the last time I sat in the South EZ. 100 yard return. My stepdad must have punched me in the ribs a dozen time during the return. Unfortunately that lead didn't last lone

Posting this because on September 13th (UGA game), I get the privilege of taking my wife to her first-ever game at Neyland. Before anyone asks, we've been married 23 years, but she doesn't fan like I do. That having been said, after taking her to the Arkansas game last year (which didn't go our way) and her making fun of how pitiful their home crowd was......I finally talked her into going to a game with me at the true cathedral of college football. I wanted her to experience Neyland at "full rock", so getting tickets to one of the directional schools was out of the question. I've already warned her that "it's going to be LOUD", and she's okay with that. Pretty excited for her to experience what I've experienced many times over the course of my fandom.

I know the question's been asked before "what was your first game at Neyland", this one's a little different. Let's talk about your thoughts when you walked into Neyland for the first time ever. I can clearly remember thinking "this is the biggest stadium I've ever seen" and "I will never hear anything as loud as this" (that last one.....let's just say I've been to a Slipknot concert and was very near the speakers, but it's really daggone close).
When was yours?

My first was 1984 against Memphis State. Took my kids lead by oldest daughter and being a recent transplant to East Tennessee from the Memphis area and an obnoxious teenager she unwisely said something about UT as we got out of our car. When we returned we had a couple of flat tires. Passion runs deep with this fan base.

1985 UCLA game in which we gave up 16 late points for a 26-26 Tie. Came back and watched trouncing of Bo Jackson and Auburn. Great 1st year to start going to Neyland Stadium. LORD Willing I will have many more years to come. In CHRIST Alone

Lots of first's and notables here...

Richmond didn't play because he ran in Lake Tahoe two days before. He has told me he should have never played 1968 and redshirted. Was at 170 pounds coming off the track injury that cost him Mexico City.

ABC there.

Sports Illustrated there.

Tartan Turf and Ward as you mentioned.

Lester McClain played his first game.

First game of the East Upper deck.

1st Game with Georgia in 31 years.
