Alot of talk is going on today after the cameras catching Arizona QB Dereck Anderson laughing on the sidelines while his team was getting blown out in the 4th quater on MNF. When asked about it after the game he went off on the reporter and said it was no big deal.

If your watching our Vols and lets say we are losing big in the 4th quater and our players are laughing it up on the sidelines does that make you mad as a fan??

It's a game. After all, isn't it supposed to be "fun?!" Now I know NOONE wants to lose, nothing is fun about losing...but it beats flipping burgers any day! If I were a rich athlete, I don't think anyone would/could wipe a smile off my face!!!

Depends quite honestly. Anderson chuckled for 2 seconds. The guy beside him could have said "Man, we sucked today," Anderson chuckles saying "yeah". Anything wrong with that?

Now if I see full blown-out laughter, then I am not liking it.

"Geesh, we're getting crushed. I think I'm gonna fly up to Las Vegas tomorrow and take my frustrations out at the Mustang Ranch. You want in Derek?"

"Well, heck yeah I want in. Whoo hoo"

Its all about context of the conversation

casual laugh after a joke, no biggie. media blows. glad derek anderson yelled at that prick.

This just bothers me, and relates nothing to the conversation, but I saw it yesterday and it pissed me off. It's not like I take Michelle Beadle seriously, but I remember how excited she was to do a "LeBron's Sportsnation", then he goes to Miami and she hates him, yet treats Bret Favre like loyalty, even though he does the same crap. Anyways, moral of the story, the media does blow.

Here's the clip of him laughing and the press conference where the questions were asked. Decide for yourself.

Derek Anderson tirade is all kinds of funny - CBSSports.com

The journalist has a job to do and I thought he did a pretty job being almost apologetic in asking the questions. It was a legitimate question -- despite what most have said on VN so far, if Bray or Simms was laughing on the sidelines while getting blown out, there would be an uproar. The journalist certainly gave Anderson a chance to put whatever was going on in context or to causally explain it away and Anderson instead made it into a story on his own.

Watching this video reminded me a lot of watching Ryan Leaf. I suspect this will be a learning experience for this young man.

He should have said something like "Sometimes you have to laugh at the things that make you want to cry." back or just that Lutui was razzin him. Never should have escalated like that or denied the fact that he was smiling.

At the end of the day it is still a game and players should be having fun!
May have been laughing at all the people that have to set behind a desk on Tuesday!

So I guess that link proves if it was our Vols the majority would be pissed, in this "what if" case folks seem to be okay with it??

Personaly I don't care how long the season is, take some pride in yourself and your team/program. Yes the games are suppose to be fun and I'm all for that in the way that I don't expect these guys to go out and kill thierself after a loss but I'm not a fan of laughing when your getting your ass kicked. We don't know what the discussion on the sidelines was and it was probably nothing to do with the game but as a fan I want my team mad they are getting embarassed.

Even at a funeral/reception it's difficult to be visibly upset for 4 straight hours.

What I don't get is that if you're on the sideline, you look up in the stands, and see something that says "Rod Wilks CAN believe it's not Butter", a guy like Briscoe is going to laugh. Let it go, people.

Bothers me if they are have a good time when we are taking a beating. When we get beat I'm upset and I'm not even on the team if they are having a good time something is wrong. This was happening the last couple of years of the Fulmer regime I knew then it was time for him to go.

Just watched some of this on ESPN. They (ESPN) were interviewing the reporter who asked Anderson the questions & he said that he asked them because he was "flooded with messages from irate fans asking what was so funny" during a blow-out loss.

The reporter went on to say that many Cardinals fans are angry because they think that the team has given up on the season & are not putting in the effort any more.

I guess I would be angry too if I had paid big bucks for season tickets & then had to watch them get blown out by the (then) 3-7 49ers.

doesn't bother me either ... its not nearly as bad as a team down by 30 and the losing defense gets a sack and the defender runs around the field like he won the game.

I understand the journalist asking the question, but keep hounding him and all that didn't help. He wasn't going to answer the question. Move on.
