I remember watching Hershel when I was a kid. Although I am a UT fan, my entire family is from Athens and my dad went to UGA. Watching Hershel was a thing of beauty

I must say that as we beat UGA at UGA in 06, when the clock ran out, our fans barked at theirs as they steadily left Sanford. That was incredible. There's nothing worse than using an opponents most known cheer against them.

I was there in Athens in '96 when UT was going for it on a QB sneak, Peyton got stacked up at the line, rolled out to the right and hit Marcus Nash for a TD in the corner of the end zone... I never heard 90,000-plus folks just go completely silent like that, before or since!!!

1992 - Great game. 4th and like 17 for a 1st down.

1993 - Even better. Night game at Neyland and UGA was just physically abused that night.

1992-converted 4th and forever
1999-leonard scott kick return for TD after UGA had scored to get back in the game, in a down poor, at night
2004-after the way we were treated pre-game, we owned Athens afterward

That '92 Georgia game is one of my all time favorite Vol wins. Then they followed it up one week later by beating the hell out of Florida in a monsoon at Neyland. Good times.:eek:k:

Watching him wreck his hip trying to tackle that monstrosity of a tight end they had a year later sucked.

I always liked the first divisional meeting between the 2 in 1992.

The first thing I instantly remember is the shot of the Vols running out onto the field in all white, which I had never seen before. I remember during the game John Ward referred to the Vols as "The Big White" several times. Then the game was a back and forth and I remember Heath Shuler being great that game.

Yep. I had forgotten for the first couple of seasons in division format we played Georgia before we played Florida.

Favorite: The entire 2006 game. My first away game, and it was great. My buddy and I took so much stuff the first half...and then, well, you know how that went.

Least Favorite: Sean Jones. That's all I'm saying.

Honorable Mention: Hobnail Boot. The Georgia rivalry had been somewhat stale as of late. This was the first time they won in Neyland in forever, and it brought the rivalry up a notch.

1992! We left UT at about 10:00 p.m. We got in Athens wearing our UT Orange and White and stopped in the Waffle House. I thought a fight was going to break out, but my friend and I are pretty big boys so I guess that persuaded them otherwise. We got our tickets about 4 hours before kickoff and saw one of the best football games I've ever seen! After the game, I got back to my car and my Go Big Orange license plate was bent. I kept that as a memento for years! We got back in Knoxville, filled with caffeine, after being up for 48 straight hours!
