They don't work, but you keep forgetting that we had Ramar, a natural and very poor shooting 2, playing point.

People avoid the foul late so he could have gotten to the hole IMO. He just needed to be reminded to dish. Tough call, but our PG situation was awful.

Yeah, I agree, it was the best play. I think Ramar was probably told to look for the kick out in that situation, but decision making was not always his strong suit. I'm also sure his eyes got big once he saw he could get to the basket. Then....Oden.

Ugh, that game still gets me. I was watching in Lima, Peru, of all places and my Peruvian fiance had no idea why I was cussing so much. I actually scared her.

Hands down the Memphis State win. First #1 ranking in school history? Come on. Give it up. Plus beating Memphis State at the only sport they're good at, and being able to rub it in their faces? Priceless. Lofton going off in Kevin Durant's face is a very close second though....

I'm totally with you man. The first loss to them that year was brutal when they got the 3 that wasn't a 3. That was infuriating. Then that last play still makes me angry to this day. Kick it out Ramar! Damn that 40 year old man Greg Oden!

Sure did rub it in Tigers' faces that year. Tigers roll to Final Four, UT gets boned by Louisville in Sweet 16.

you're right. I would have loved to be in the position you guys were in. But wasn't it nice to see Cal eats his own words about FT shooting watching his players melt against Kansas? It was great I must say.

FT wouldn't have mattered if :

1. Call had called timeout to regroup, settle his players, and tell them to foul. He says he told them to foul, which is BS. Those players did whatever he told them to do. He also never believed in fouling in that situation. So, I don't buy his excuse of "I told them to foul."
2. Cal didn't sag everyone back INSIDE the 3 point line when you're up 3 with 5 seconds to go.
3. Andre Allen had not toked up. He was a seasoned, solid, agressive defender who gave Rose the needed 5-10 minute rest every game. Rose was dead legged at the end of that game.

Yet you hit your FT and you have a title.

Too bad it's all irrelevant now considering Tiger High didn't even go to the final four that year according to the NCAA.

Top 5 moments of the Pearl era

5.) Lofton lighting up the Cats at Rupp
4.) Lofton's shot over Durant
3.) The win against Florida at TBA when they were undefeated
2.) Lofton buzzer beater against Winthrop
1.) Beating Memphis for #1 and that pregame speech Pearl gave. Wow man..talk about chill bumps.

haha @ my 'Bruce Pearl' moments being Lofton-based. Can't he come back for a 5th year or something. I need some new memories.

I heard that last night's win over APSU was Pearl's 99th. What coach at UT has gotten to this point quicker? Ray Mears is the only one I can think of. Where was he (in wins) at the start of his 5th season?
