me too. We have to get back to owning UGA. wasn't it 12 years in a row? wow!!!!!!!!!!!!

9 years and it was (not sure if still true) the longest losing streak for them to any team which is saying a lot because like us, they have a very rich and long football history. I lived in GA at the time so it was WONDERFUL! Dawgs calling up and leaving barking messages before games talking smack. Oh the return calls were so much fun, sometimes needed a few weeks to formulate my responses.:)

1996 Citrus Bowl OSU - My first game ever
1999 Notre Dame - My first game at Neyland. Night game. College Gameday. Probably the night I really fell in love UT fooball. I was fan before. That was the night the obsession began.
2004 UGA - Won as 14 pt dogs on the road and broke a 4 game UGA win streak
2005 LSU - Down 17 in the 4th on the road and came back and won.
2006 Cal - One of the most electric atmospheres I've seen at Neyland

Hubert Simpson had 4 TD's that and a big goal line stand by the defense!!

Yes, that was a great memory! I have so many, it is really hard to pick them out. That year we blew out FLorida in the second half in Knoxville was a lot of fun. Dale Carter returned the second half kickoff for a TD. That was early 90s. Spurrier first trip to Neyland as the Gator's coach.

I was there for the 6 OT thing against Arky.

Or 1984 against Alabama where we scored two touchdowns in the final five minutes to beat them like 28-27 or such. Tony Robinson at QB.

It wasn't a bomb. It was a 16 yard pass that turned into an 80 yard TD.

I know I got so excited I spit my gum in a bama fan's hair. I will never forget the team coming over to the UT section and celebrating after the game. And never forget having to be forced out of the stadium after the national championship game. I wanted that night to last forever.

My list is really going to suck compared to most people's:

2011 Vandy
2009 Kentucky
2006 South Carolina
1998 Houston (just because it was my only '98 game)
1997 Ole Miss (my first)

Those last two could be replaced by 2010 Oregon if we only counted the first half and 2010 North Carolina if we only counted until "the game is over."

1979 Notre Dame (Vegas Ferguson steps out of bounds on the 1 yd line on kick-off)
1982 Alabama (broke the streak, rushed the field)
1992 Florida (huge rainstorm/Mose Phillips takes a Screen Pass from Shuler all the way)
1996 Alabama (another rain game and Jay Graham went the distance late)
1968 Alabama (Vols Win 10-9, my first game ever as a kid, age 8)

Yes, I had forgot about Vegas Ferguson catching that kickoff and stepping out of bounds at the one yard line. That was the perfect kickoff! It was down there in the corner where Section X is location.

One odd thing I remember about that game. Not racist but this was hard not to notice. We were in the upper deck in like Section JJ or some such...(I still have my ticket stub). Notre Dame warmed up on our end of the field. They were doing jumping jacks. It was a 60 man travel squad. They only had six black guys on that team. They were all either DB's, RB or WR. 54 white guys and six black guys. That was extremely unusual even for 1979.

A few come to mind..

1) Watching Dale Jones make a tremendous interception vs Bamma and then seeing the Vols hang on to win a big one.
2) Watching UT shut down Bo Jackson in Neyland....actually hit him so many times that he had to leave the game. I recall this was Dale Jones and company again.
3) Reggie White going nuts on Memphis in Neyland...I hung in there and sat through a heavy rain, as most fans bailed, UT won 40-0.

1982-Alabama 35-28 win that broke the 11 year streak.
1979-Notre Dame 40-18 blowout win after losing to Rutgers the week before.
1985-Auburn-38-20 win. Bo Jackson lays down after the 3d quarter.
1990-Florida-45-3 win; blowout in second half
1968-Kentucky-24-7 win; first game in person

Interesting to read some of your posts and the relative youth reflected in them (games you have seen).

I agree. The first game I attended was in '78 or '79. The 1st I remember vividly is the '80 Southern Cal game.

I actually had a LOT of fun this year at the Cincinnati game. Their fans made it fun. The whole time walking through the stadium and even sitting down they were shooting their mouths off.

"gonna be a long day for Tennessee"
"when was the last time UT went to a BCS bowl"
"about time for Tennessee to learn how to real football is played"

Then it became Bray/Hunter/Rogers time. It was fantastic.

The 79 Notre Dame Jimmy Streater running wild and Hubert Simpson. A player who graduated from my high school, Clark Duncan had an interception in the game. I remember the kickoff where the fellow stepped out at the 1 yard line. Didn't it happen twice in the game?

1. Oregon (My first game and it was an adventure during the rain delay trying to run a mile to the car in the flood/lightning to get ponchos. Dumb idea)

2. Ole Miss 2010 (52-14 W!)

3. @Vanderbilt 2010 (24-10 W) Wasn't that exciting but I've only been to 4 games so far.

4. Georgia 2011 (20-12 L) Frustrating game. Then Bray got hurt at the end.

That game was fun...After that game I thought our passing game would at least keep us in every game. Little did I know about the football god's anger at CDD. That freak Hunter injury...bah.

Actually, Bubba Wyche started that game. I wasn't there, but that game is fairly well documented in a very famous Sports Illustrated article that features us on the cover.

Edit: My bad. I didn't read the original post closely. The Auburn game is the one you speak of and not the Bama game (what I referred to). Both games were played on Legion Field that year.

And little did you know how important running the football is to winning games.
