Doesn't matter who the coach is: My expectations for the Tennessee Program.

-A BCS Bowl every three years
-An SEC Title every four years, and 2 SEC Title appearances every six
-Multiple players going to the pros every year.

Side note: I think you can give Dooely an extra year for the BCS Bowl and SEC Title considering the circumstances.

What are your expecations for the UT football program?

-9 or more wins a year
-being able to stop the run
-contention for the sec championship every year
-win the sec conferance game every three years
-anything less would be a repeat of fulmer's last few years

Those are a few realistic expectations mentioned above. Maybe a SEC title win every 4 years. But agree need to be competing for it every year. No questions about it. We are traditionally at least the second best program in the conference. To expect us to be anything else would not be sufficient. We love our football and program. We have the conference history and facilities to back it up!!

national title appearence 2 in every 7 years with one of them being a win(title win every 7 years).
bcs bowl appearence every other year.
sec title 1 in every 3 years and 2 appearences in every 5 years.
Including the bowl game, we should win 10 games per year. Anything less is average, not great.

*I will give dooley 4 years to get us to these standards starting with next season because that is the first season that his recruits will be here.

I would say a BCS bowl once every four.
Sell out every game even if it is a cake walk.
Win our division once every three.
Beat either Bama or UF every year and both in the same year once every four.
"Special" Special Teams, "Physical" running game, "Feared" passing attack, and "Dominant" defense.

to be competitive with the top teams in the conference and to play at least one big time program as an OOC game each year...

too many "luck" type things factor into championships and getting to BCS bowls

When was the last time that UT met those expectations?

SECCG every other year no more than every 3rd year.
NC game at least every 3 years (all you have to do is win the SEC to get there).
Get back to the good 'ol days of whoever wins the UF v UT game being the leader in the the east.

At what point have we ever won a NC once out of every seven years. Even for our university that is a stretch. We have played football for over a hundred years and have 6 the entire time. I'm all for high standards, but you my friend will never be satisfied with any program.

I expect perfection. But to be relistic, I believe with this coach we will do some good things and hopefully we will compete for the SEC championship but ultimately we want the national championship and in due time we will be back there. That's my opinion, So beat me up if you like.

The bar has to atleast be set at 2 Sec titles a decade. Anything less than that is a failure IMO.

the topic is about expectations. the realism is that Alabama was mediocre before saban came in, but the fans expectations were way higher.

So you are saying that because of that correlation, to be a good football program, we have to have outrageous expectations?

Correlation does not equal causation. That's a logical fallacy.

At 39-28 in SEC play since LSU 2001 crash, at this point it would simply be nice to avoid a sub-.500 SEC record for the 10 year period of 2002-2011. Not to mention avoiding concurrent 5+ year losing streaks to Florida and Bama. Not holding breath on any of this.

Wow. some of these expectations are a bit out of reach.

9 wins a season.
An SEC East title every 4 years
1 SEC Championship appearance every 5 years
1 National Championship appearance every 10 years
