Your expectations for the next month - Recruting?

I say we get one or two of the major players out there. Anything else would be very surprising. Yes butch had an up hill battle but he knows this and the kids no this. Let's get these kids on campus in the month of January and see where we are at. I'm not gonna say we finish top ten but I think 15th-22nd is realistic I mean butch has already added depth to our class.

I think butch is giving his all right now and being very aggressive with a no fear attitude. Add Graham Martinez and thigpen and we have a real shot to do some good things. I also think having azzani finally here will help with guys like a north.

As far as guys like Ramsey goes stud. But if he don't wanna be here I don't want him here.

Go vols let's get guys on campus with our new coaching staff before we start making wild assumptions.. :eek:k:

I think we finish in the top 25. CBJ will pull one or two out of the big name guys we are in on (most likely North and then Lawson or Bell (simply because he is a Vols fan)) and I think he will fill out the roster with some solid, if not spectacular, players. A Lawson commitment early could put UT on a good run but I am not sure we get him. All in all, I think the class will be between 20-25 in the rankings and that there will be some good pieces added. CBJ will show his worth on the recruiting trail next year and the year after.

We have really got a lot of room to make fun of 3 star players. After all , we only won one SEC game all year. Lets face facts, as long as we are sorry on the field we will only get very low average to below players. I would be very thankful if all of our recruits this year are 3 star players. Beggers cannot be choosers !!!! Until we do something on the field, we are going to get what everyone else don't want !!!!!!!

Top 25 is my expectation. Remember, CBJ inherited a much worse incoming recruiting class than either Kiffin or Dooley. As far as recruiting goes, CBJ has a much tougher hill to climb in the early going.

He's clearly got the energy and enthusiasm to be successful in 2014, though. As long as we show progress on the field and make a bowl game next year, I expect big things out of that class.

I think it will be tough.
Now UT is having to compete with Vandy, Miss St. Ole Miss and even UK just to get the next level of recruit. It used to be that if UT couldn't get the 5 and 4 star, they had the upper level 3 stars on the hook. The climate has changed. There are literally 13 other teams in the SEC all recruiting hard and most have a lot more time under their belts.

We'll be top 20. If Lawson picks UT we'll break the top 10. His commitment would send a strong message to other top recruits. And I think UT will have some very real momentum with guys like North, Green, Bell and others if Lawson chooses UT. Even w/o Lawson we'll land a couple big time players, sign 25-27, and finish no worse than 20th. IMO.

I don't know about everyone else, but after what Butch Jones has managed to do since being hired, my expectations are very high.

No, he has not signed any 5* guys yet, but we have a good shot at the number 2 player in the land (Rivals), we are still in on the top running back, we are still in on a top WR, we stole one from Vandy (many may laugh, but right now we are losing to them more than we are winning. I do not expect that situation to last long now.), we have taken a commitment in Florida, etc. This, with only about 8 days on the road thus far.

I know we will not win all the battles this recruiting season, but Jones is already building relationships for 2014. If he is anywhere near as active in the coming month, I think expectations for the coming year should start to soar. I know recruiting does not equal on-the-field coaching, but if he is doing everything else right, I would tend to believe that he is going to get that right as well.

I am guessing that we end up with about a top 12 class this year, and a top 5 class next year. Am I being overly optimistic (as usual) or do you agree? Flame away.

I think we end up in the 20's...it looks like its gonna be 3 star hell around here.

We signed 1 guy today and moved up 7 spots on Rivals, so I think we easily end up in the top 25, if everything falls right then we could be top 15

No expectations whatsoever by me. I'm in the wait and see mode for CBJ, the team and how 2013 turns out overall.

I don't really care where we land "class ranking" wise. If we get a game changer at RB, a couple good WRs, some talent we can redshirt on the OL, a head hunter or 2 on the DL, and some speed guys in the back 7, I think we will be fine. If CBJ can fill needs I don't care if the class ranks #42.

If he does this the class will be ranked much higher than 42, prob somewhere in the middle teens.

We're back in the "once we start winning, the stars will come" mode once again. Hopefully, Butch will make it happen this time. If he can pull Green, Lawson and North, it will be a very successful first year.

With what I've seen and observed we'll end up with several more three stars and some four stars and by the time they're coached up by this staff they'll play like four stars and five stars. Any five stars we get will be a big bonus!

Not a sure thing at all. I never said these "good Wrs", "speed in the back 7", head hunters at DL, need to be 4-5 star kids. A head hunter on the DL could be a 2 star and go in the 2nd round of the draft in 4 years. I want to see us meet needs, not focus on star power.

Vandy is up so high because of quantity of players signed. They only have two 4 stars if I am not mistaken. We currently have 4, according to Rivals. Give it time, the staff will come thru.

I was amazed at how organized coach Jones has been. When you think about what he has accomplished with the time available... He left one coach behind to coach his old team to victory...He built a staff...They've been making and maintaining relationships by phone.

I thought Dooley did a fantastic job when he was first hired, but I think Jones has already topped that so far. Of course, we will see what he can accomplish down the stretch. He needs to close on these that he gotten some interest from. I just get the feeling that he is going to win more of the 50/50 battles. Time will tell.
